  5. There are only 6 species "wild " in the uk. the larger species of muntjac is no longer at large. reindeer roan "feral" up in the cairgorms, but they are very tame so they cannot count. there are, however, three sub-species of sika...japanese, formosion and manchurian....
  6. Jah, thats pretty much it really. scoob killed a CWD on the way down, but the rest is ok. I ran scoob and he went lame, nothing we can do about that.I do think it was "one of those nights" really. seen plenty but none were right out. maybe next time.....

  9. well i have to agree with your sentiments a little. I had a great laugh that evening with the two guys who generously took me out on their land. I liked their dogs and we had a good craic. Someone has been telling porkies though about my dog and i would like to know the full tale as to what allegded to have happened. Because i am totally honest with the chain of events i have nothing to hide as the truth has been told from my side. FOXY, you are still quiet , why not answer my posts. i see you were on here at 1.09 this afternoon so you have obviously read it so come on mate, dont be shy tel
  10. and i did.....until he came unstuck on the hard ground. You dont honestly think i would travel all that way and not run him do you>????? once my dog has smashed his toes and has a swollen wrist i refrain from further runs. On my way down to portsmouth i did a detour to bedfordshire and had some great runs on the chinese too, then went to essex and then to portsmouth. Shame the fields were just too hard for him...... im still waiting for FOXY's reply too..seems like someones been making little stories up i guess hi P&G, he doin ok. still only lead walking for the next three wee
  11. the washburn valley reservoirs are very good value and will provide you with a good challenge. i like to use very small, black dries on may/june evenings with a fairly fine tippet. some good rises and the trout are on the top practically all the time. I have taken a good number of nice rainbows from where the river washburn flows in.
  12. Sounds a very sensible option to take,..especialy when on strange ground... I've heard that they don't take any prisoners down there.... i did run the dog but he became a little lame when running on the hard chalky ground, i have wrote a truthful report in the next book highlighting scoobys lameness, not that i have to prove anything at all, but i try to be as truthful as possible.this is text taken froma tiny portion of the book highlighting what i thought of those fields..... "One thing that struck me was the seriously hard ground underfoot. Sharp, hard flints and lumps of chal

  16. perhaps the most important thing is just exactly WHAT bull was used. there would be little point using a peice of cur bred rubbish really, IMHO, as others have done.
