Hi guys I have not really posted in a while. This is my new venture, fieldcrafter-uk. This is my version of a "bush craft" knife but with a twist or two as I don’t know anyone that actually practices bush craft but I know loads of people that are outdoors folks or involved in field sports hence "fieldcrafter-uk" It’s constructed from 5.8mm o1 tool steel Professionally heat treated in Sheffield to hrc 57-59 Laser engraved and hand finished in every other way each one is subtly different. They have what I call "raw steel finish" which is actually a process and means that it’s totally practical

Thanks gents , there nothing you haven't seen before , just masses of them . It's a relief to finally get a makers mark/ logo on my knives . I won't miss the one offs and customs I can tell you that!! There should be some blanks after next weekend as iv run out of money so what sells will fund handle materials and leather . -
Yeah wet and dry then a buff I should say !
-
Yeah they should be fine the long thin one is probably the riskiest one . But in sure we should get it right .
-
It's all done just needs a good polish , I know the fella your talking about !
-
It's gonna be interesting to see what it looks like !! Is all the steel going on the mrs kitchen knives ? If it works ask for the bone that is inside the thigh of the hind leg it's longer and straighter . With a really thick wall on it if he could cut the knuckle off each end you will be able to get the marrow out of it when your boiling it ! Interesting project this one do a few photos through out and make sure to show the finnished product !

Thanks fellas its all in hand . As I said iv put everything I have into the steel and still a way to go yet . I need some finished product before I can do anything else . Should have the engraving done by Thursday next week . -
It's not a true shin bone steve it's from a hind leg that . I'd imagine its like cleaning deer skulls . Gently simmer the piece in water for hours . When the meats all cooked and falling away add biological washing powder and a little thin bleach and let simmer for another hour or so . Let it dry and cut it up .

I'm afraid not Paul it costs a pissing arm and a leg to get done . It would be something like £75 -£100 each to do if they where sent finished !!!!! Makes yours much more collectable tho !! There's been huge investment in the first 100 (thousands of ££) And iv not even ground them yet or bought handle or sheath materials . I know you guys have always supported me and I'm very grateful but my return on that will have to be seen as the prices you got all those blanks and knives at ! It can't happen any more I have to make a living from now on they will now cost what the cost (which i -

Hi I don't l ow how to answer . Is it stainless ? If it is it won't need much to get it nice . If its carbon steel I would put fresh 600grit wet and dry papar wrapped around something hard like a block of wood and sand in one direction from handle to blade. That should bring back the shine and not remove the pattern . If you have a buffing mop that will Finnish it off lovely ! -

I have made a few bouncers (for dead birds) and floaters ( full wings and tail decoys) I used 4mm mild steel round for the bouncers just bent a 50cm length in half and welded it then sharpen the 3 points for head and wings , they work well and stand me at no more that £5 materials . And iv used an old beach casting rob with a thick fencing wire cradle for the full bodies decoy and used old forsale signs as wings and tail . There a twat to make as the balence is hard to get right . I'd say make your own bouncer and buy a jack pike floater and modify it to improve it . Iv apoxied everyth

I think 6 is the minimum For corvids . I shoot 3/4 choke 30 gram 6's Through side by side or over under . My personal count this year so far is 102 for corvids mostly carrion crows . I shoot alot on the roost flight . Iv only had 2 decoying sessions that accounted for under half my score . I can't wait for the next 6-8 weeks to pass as there will be hords of crows to shoot !
