  1. My Pup won the Lurchers Puppy, don't do many shows but it is more enjoyable when you win.
  2. Not with his accent, born and bred in Northumberland
  3. I know the Lurcher judge very well for tomorrow and he talks proper not like our southern counter parts. Wink hound I hear you've never been out with the Lurcher Judge so you don't know what his dogs are like, anyhow, I was asked have you got a Jack Russell that sticks yet or is it a Cox's Orange Pippin. Good Luck to all Lurcher and Terrier Judge's tomorrow, especially Mick Bell proper Northumbrian.
  4. Been to the local beach tonight with the Dogs and watched two birds of prey jumping around the wall, I think they were Peregrine's but I was a bit far away to see. I eventually spooked them after watching them for 15 minute's and I went across to the wall to see what they had been up to and found a Birds nest with only one chick in and blood around the entrance. Has anybody else seen this before.
  5. The Lurcher bit must have been in joined up writing and I could not see it, apologies for that.
  6. Doe's anyone know when the Duke of Buccleuch Lurcher and Terrier Show is.
  7. Gin, do they have any Lurcher classes, I see they have BullX ?
  8. Some Butchers do dog mince for 20p per pound, Farm to Freeze in Wooler Northumberland do, it has a bit of fat in but it makes a good pudding for the dogs on a winters night and also feeds the Ferrets when you have no Rabbits for them.
  9. I saw a young Collie get run over about a week ago, they run there dogs up the side of a local Football Pitch that leads to a Farm, the Driver run the dog over when he was trying to turn. I rolled my old Whippet with my Quad one night when I was trying to watch another dog course a Hare, its one job only when out with the Quad now, that night it happened as quick as a flash and I only knew I had run her over because of the Tyre Mark on her.
  10. Diggermad remind me how much you offered me for my Fenn Traps
  11. My Dad had a Kerry in the 30's in Dublin before he came to England to work and he swore by that Dog. I have a couple of old pictures of him and he looked more like a working Bedlington than the trimmed up shite of today. I have a feeling the pictures were kept by the ex wife I will try and get it and re photo it and post it. When I used to go to the Coquetdale Coursing Club meetings before the ban one of the old lads from Leeds way had just bred a KerryXGreyhound I never did find out how the pups went on.
  12. Just an observation Del but is the dog not supposed to be fit for showing and that's why a lot of Terrier and Lurcher people do not take a dog to the show, a recently marked dog would not be fit for showing, the same goes with the lurcher's if it was run the night before and comes limping across the ring it might be the best specimen about but the knocked up toe or the wire gash will make the Judge think again. We need to start and stick together more in this sport and support the show's as Del says if we are just going for a look it will make the organiser's think who you are if you give a Ra
  13. I went too judge a show today and never take any dog as I feel the entrants may think you have a bias towards that type. I Referee'd local football though for 15 years and as I know 11 players love you and 11 don't but the ultimate result is the draw as they can all hate you then?? We sometimes forget that without the Judge/Referee we have no contest.. All the best for the coming show season to all, P.S. watch for my Pup....
  14. Get another lurcher owner to take you out with them and just let the pup watch, he will soon learn. Don't forget how old he is, he has time on his side. One day it will just click and he will be away. Good luck.
  15. Riohog if you want to listen to Helloloser and think the dog is going to be no good I will Kennel him and look after him for you. I looks a fine and particularly handsome hound to me. Good luck with him, and Saluki's are far and away the best cross into any running dog
  16. People around me just think I am weird as I have up to six dogs out at one time, you always get the "they must be a handful" I just can not help replying "fives a handful" and looking at them as if they have lost the plot. The local RSPCA busy body walks past my gate everyday and she heard a fight at a Lunchtime she ranted on about having too many dogs, so I shut her up telling her I would take them to the local hunt and let the huntsman shoot them, she comes no where near me now. We need to just pacify these Plebs and keep ourselves separate from them.....
  17. Name him or report to the moderators??
  18. I had a one as a company car, great for lamping from with the top removed and with the correct tyres on will go anywhere, a good Van. Good luck with the sale.
  19. Fourtracks have low power running lights and if you want the spots on full beam I think they need the relay wired a different way, sorry its a few years ago since I wired one so can not remember, I might be able to get you a copy of how to wire them up if needed. PM me if you do.
  20. If you do the ferreting as a service to the farmer you have to keep going, we have young and half grown rabbits on the go around here at the minute, HAPPY HUNTING
  21. Sounds like the battery, the frost will pull the battery down, try recharging it with the smallest charger you have, the slower the better. Good luck.
