  2. Ok had a call from mate to say that at the weekend they had seen a total of 8 red charlie over the area the shoot covers. Set over to the permission when mate phones to say weather pretty bad and still swowing but as I'm half way there decide to carry on. Arrive at the location and the jeep couldn't get up the track to the hillside due to the drift, not promising. So on foot like Scott of the Antartic off I go ladden like a pack mule. I arrive at the earth and to be honest not much sign about but it had and was still snowing pretty well, collar on Beddy and let him go. Straight in and in a f
  3. The lakeland is a popular choice as an outcross for bedlingtons, plenty of them out there. You will improve coat and possibly add a bit of grit depending on what you use, should be noted that in years gone by the bedlington was used on lakeland for much the same reasons. They will make as good a dog as any depending on breeding and entering.

  11. I set out yesterday at 0750 for a last look around the shoot .On arrival took a large detour round the lambing fields as their time was just about here to head of the valley. As we walked it through charlie made a dash for a stone dyke but after being "winged" was retrieved by one of the running dogs. We continued after what was a good start in pleasant conditions up through with nothing else found. Over the top of hill and as we head back towards the car to the next section we check a few holes. He gave some attention to one but no residents so moved on to a hole that he bolted one from a fe
  12. not the most recent pic but doing nice and steady 14.5", definitely nothing fluffy about him
  13. You'll find bedlingtons' anything from 14" right up to 19". In regards to Rillington ones I think you would be hard pushed to find a "line" thats not heavily diluted nowadays. Remember bedlingtons are the same as any other working terrier, don't be taken in by the name go for worker bred ones and you stand a better chance.
  14. I had a similar scenario with a dog of mine, it had a Tibia Plateau Leveling Osteotomy "TPLO" not the cheapest operation but he has had it on both rear legs now and is fine. He will never be as quick as he was but he does have a run about. Took about 12 weeks from start to finish and as has been said key is to stick to the advice of strict bed rest.
