  1. I live in the town. Not the center though thankfully. Im a towny Born, but country Bred. I love being out in the sticks weather im walking with the dog's. or setting snares. Can't beat it. I was into the ferreting from 15. I only ever went on the town when i was 17, with my mate. Was worth it wanted to the lasses we pulled. & then again last may, was my lasses birthday and she dragged me. I even said to her i would rather have been in a field. Which didnt impress her I wont stop doing what i do for anybody or anything. happy hunting, happy snaring, ha
  2. Sounds like a young buck wanting to make some money. I dont agree with selling pups for anymore than £100. At the end of the day, a pup will only be worth what you make it. After you buy the pup, you gotta have its innocs which are about £40. Lad's i know sell pups for £30-£40, enough to pay for the pups food and treatment for bitch before breeding. And a tiny bit profit. If my bitch comes anygood i will be breeding from her, when she's 2year old at least, and the pups will be going for no more than £50 apiece. I know a bloke who sells dogs regular, one word desribes him
  3. 25 miles from home. Plenty of bunnies about. hope the weather stays wild 60-70 fence wires & 50 peg wires. Im am going on my billie jean so i cant carry much more & set at the same time (amateur)
  4. check autotrader and ebay. or the North East Ad Trader.
  5. astra, combo or vectra. If i had to choose i would go for a combo. the vans are cheap over your way. £500 for an N reg. Good little vans, back doors making it easier if your lamping off the back.
  6. had a little peep in the nest today. one kits head left out of 6 full ones She's never killed her own before. It could have something to do with a new dog around the place, i dunno
  7. does anybody have pictures of squirrel snares set? Im not bothered about snaring them as there isnt many around my way, just curious of what a set looks like
  8. i read somewhere that somone used an electric collar for the same problem but on sheep. They said it worked in three training sessions i think.
  9. gotta go with allonby ice cream there was a herd of roe on silloth prom not so long ago
  10. read on another forum, woodga replied to someone, saying diesel soaked rag's. But 200 holes, and diesel at £1.00 a litre...... Supose you could always use trusty old red diesel
  11. its been two years since i have bred ferrets. I think its 2 weeks when they start to get their coats. Eyes open at 2 week...... Not totally sure though
  12. there supposed to be for a peg. Your'e supposed to use a hazel or dowel pin with a split in the top to hold the wire. Your better sticking to tightly wound wires, wire tealers Contact Woodga, P&G or Snareman and they might sort you out with some.
  13. My albino jill finally has had her kits after what seems like months of waiting. She has 6. Not sure what sexes they are. But 3 Jills are spoken for (lets hope she has three jills) The father of the litter is a black eyed sandy. So probably get a variety of colours.
  14. When you say "manual pump" do you mean the re-priming pump? the van has one of these. Lets hope i get a few more MPG after changing this..... Oil filter & Oil Change comign shortly. I hate giving money to mechanic's if i can do it myself
  15. Are these easy to change? I know its just unscrew the top of the holder & swap the filters, but do you have to cut off the supply, bleed it? Pump it back through somehow? cheers
  16. if your willing to splash out a bit extra for the scudo, go for it. 45mpg on a run but the combi will do 55 on a run. You can get the scudo in a three seater version. ALthough it will be a bit tight in three seats, your still insured for 3 people in the van so they can just sit in the back. Nice & easy to board out I'd reccomend getting a fitted bulkhead, or make one yourself with plyboard but you want the load space FULLY seperated because its quite noisy with the side doors & they are a nice height for lamping off the back of the van. Not too high & not too low.
  17. well said King. I look at my ferrets each day, and twice I have noticed abseccess coming along. The first was a vet job because i didnt know if i could do anything myself. But the vet informed me that if it appears again, soak it in warm water every day until it burst's
  18. fair enough each to their own i just love seeing the dog's run
  19. Nice 1 personally i would cut the skull first, then i dont need to skin the full head, or am i just lazy
  20. Two black & white dog's for sale 8 weeks old. They are from the same litter i got my pup and the lad is struggling to get them away. So i said i'd ask about for him. Anyway the breeding is DAM Bull/Greyhound SIRE Collie/Greyhound Whippet/Greyhound there is one that will be slightly rough coated and will make 26-27" And the other one will be smooth coated and make 25"-26" The dam&sire have been well looked after & the people are good honest folk PM me if your intrested. PS, the pups are in cumbria area
  21. Laws for snaring: Must be a free running snare not self locking Must be checked once a day Must not be set to cause injury or death of animals under (section 6???) ie; deer, badger
  22. i had been through puppy training with my previous dog, so this is my second time round, i am a bit more wised up now, so lets hope she turns into a nice little rabbiting dog who, may i add, was thick as feck. But he was still my pride & joy
  23. well, she has settled down well now and has been in the kennel for a week now. She's eating well and got rid of all her milkworm's. She's looking healthy & she had her first innoculation yesterday the breeding in her is 3/6 greyhound 1/6 collie 1/6 bull 1/6 whippet She is very inquisitive and is learning the meaning of the word NO You can see the collie in her, the way she runs and then lays down as collies do
  24. anyone ever set snares, came back in the morning to find the field flooded with cow's? Twice its happened to me. But luckily i only set on the fence line. I caught a total of four rabbits. Two young un's which the fox had took half of their bodys. On 3/4 grown in a peg wire, who got himself well wrapped around my marker pins and one snare missing with rabbit fur everywhere (fox, badger?) Also had snared a fox in a rabbit wire, but he bit the wire clean through. Last night turned shite, weather wise A nice big banking. Im gonna get 100 odd snares laid down when i persuade
