  1. Anyone any idea where i can get hold of a few? i want them to use, not to collect. They are on Ebay quite alot but usually get upto £30 - £40 each.
  2. liner hobs lol You can also hear a great deal if you stick your ear to the ground, also i often find if your right abov ferret & rabbit you can feel the rabbit thunping beneath you
  3. One golden rule - no collar & box , no ferreting. In the worst case scenario, the collar might pack up underground. Had it happen once. so i put my other hob in, he went straight to the the rabbit & other hob, i got a dig, only 6" and they were both there on a rabbit.
  4. you dont want a canvas bag, get an old oil bottle, clean it out, get the smell out of it, bolt on a 2" wide strap, fire your battery in and pack around the edges to stop battery moving about. Fling it over your shoulder. Or if you prefer a back pack, then put 2 straps on it so it resembles a back pack.
  5. on the subject of fines, what about lamping off the back of a van? could you get done for dangerous driving?
  6. Finally bought myself woodga's dvd , probably wont get it till tuesday or something, with it being a bank holiday, but im keen to be able to snare them little bloody rabbit but at the mo, i just cant do it!
  7. Lightforce Blitz (240) Spot on lamps, but downgrade the bulb from 100w to 50w. I use a wet cell (motorcucle type) battery its about 16a and has lasts me a good time, even with the 100w bulb. Only problem is they need a bit of attention, the acid levels need topping up, dont let them drain to much otherwise you could damage the cell. The 240 lamp is briliant, some say its too much, well if you lamp a lot of places like paddocks and places with small fields then a little clu-lite would probably do, but for normal lamping i wouldnt use anything smaller than the 240, its also excellent
  8. Anybody got advice on fenn trapping, i did get some advice, but cant remember where it was posted, i just cant seem to get the hang of it.
  9. Here is a picture of my pup when he was about 3mnths old and at 7 months He is whippet x greyhound x saluki he is coming up 9 months old now and he is standing at 25" to the shoulder at the moment.
  10. thanks Mr. Peg I have spied some fields that have stacks of rabbits in, one is really hard to longnet because of the city lights, bad to ferret because of the 20foot deep mound sets. So i will get some fence wires up, i have got 5 hoops made up so i will have a bit practise with them. I finish work early tommorow, so i will set them out tommorow and check saturday morning, will take pictures, if theres any worth taking. good hunting
  11. Will even a complete useless git like me, be able to use hoops succesfully? I read a few topics on here and they sound effective, and much less time to set, i really must buy that dvd of yours.
  12. buy 100 yards sheet netting for about £15 from Brinded, and 100 yards line at £6 from him, theres £21 and you got yourself a good net. buy some end pins off him, or make your own.
  13. Im sure some of you know me from other forums, Anyway, im from the north west and my favoured sport is ferreting, either to longnets or purse nets. Usually my 8month old greyhoundxwhippetxsaulki dog acompanies me He is coming on well, having caught 20+ rabbits upto now (thats not a boast, just a fact) as i dont believ it would be anything to boast about. I also like to longnet on a night time, havent done much but have had some fun doing it. Also, as woodga will tell ya, i am keen to get to know the way of the wires, but just cannot get it right! happy hunting
  14. better than the £38 + £11 Postage that Mr. Brinded charges ( i think thats what he's charging now)
