  4. a gate net is used by night time , usually for Hares. they simply put the net so its covering the gate side to side. You would then beat the hare into the net. Not as easy as it seems though How much??????????????????? it is a 6z nylon net and it 50m when set out You've been ripped off mate Try Here cheaper nets, and they are 100% bagging with a proper mesh size 2 1/8" knot to knot (4 1/4" full mesh).
  5. Right lads, i know its 18months - 36 months away but i've got nothing else to think about so. My pups DAM is bull x greyhound SIRE is collie x greyhound whippet x greyhound What Cross , in your personal opinion, would you put over this bitch?? 8. Hello Mr. Warren. My nets must have just been shite then (Brinded's Nets) I must say that i have seen it a few times when i have had a rabbit hit near center between two poles, the top line pulls down. But thats when i had the poles at 8 yards, i have now reduced to 6 yards. Also, splicing the line of a quickset net is a right B@stard!!!!! I am not "anti-quickset" as most of my nights adventures i have used the quickset, but feel that if i was using traditional i could have accounted for more bunnies. Its only last season that i hed learned to handle traditional nets and im
  9. 6 strand brass wire snares. You can also use soft copper wire, kevlar. Buy woodga's DVD for a professional insight on how to make & set snares
  10. See on a night time when your getting large numbers of rabbits your always better off with traditional nets. As they hold rabbits a lot lot lot better than quickset. During the day quickset is fine as for a starter its less to carry (just one basket) (then your ferret box, spade etc..) You are standing by the nets during the day so rabbits arent sitting there for long anyway. I use a mixture of traditional & quickset nets. both day & night. I remember longnetting a stone wall in a rough field during the day with traditional nets and getting a nice bag for my troubles. Wh

  12. and now i need £1600 for the repair bill of the b*****d van. Damage is Front wing Radiator Headlight Unit Bumper Bonnet (which im sure can be beaten out) seems a bit dear to me..... im sure i can get them off ebay for about Front wing £40 Radiator £70 Headlight Unit £40 Bumper £50 Bonnet £ £280. and i could fit most of it myself. Im gettting an invoice of the estimate tommorow so i can see what damage there is. Got the phone call today, last thing i wanted to hear when i was sweating my arse off in a stupid loft pulling daft cables about.
  13. You want 100% bagging in a longnet. ie; 100yards net on 50 yard cords If using them traditional you only want them about 20 meshes deep (height of the net) as when your pickign them up on the crooks, the net isnt dangling around your feet.
  14. best piece of advice you will get is Go on one of P&G's Snaring courses

  20. Alright lads, me and my mate set some snares, about 50, yesterday. This morning we checked them and had 16 rabbits. Again there is no pictures as its red hot and i foolishly worn a jumper. So i wasnt wanting to stand around taking pictures. We caught 3 half grown rabbits in fence wires next to a paddock. The horses are in a different paddock for a week or so. so we thought it would be a good time to get a few bunnys from there. I am picking them up in the morning, and i will try get some more photo's It just goes to show how effective snares can be, even at this time of the year,
  21. in all serious-ness, Phil is a very generous man to people who show him a bit of respect. If you go there and make yourself look a prat he's going to give you nothing. Phil deserves a lot of respect, a true hunter who has studied most types of hunting, and he is very good at what he does,
  22. it basically is a bigger rabbit snare. It is usually made of 2.5mm aircraft cable. It has a 'stop' so the noose will only close so far, this allows a leg of a deer or anything else to escape if caught.
