Down to four kits, I think they may have been suckling on the second jill and not getting the food. I took the second jill out, and now all four are fighting fit and they have grown somewhat. THere is 3 jills and the fourth, i think is a hob, but it was hard to tell. Soon know in a few weeks time. Pictures will be coming soon but i dont want to disturb them too much

What a pile of SHITE it happens in FIVES Thursday, crowbar fell on my head Friday, ran into the back of my van only to be wiped out by the door frame Tuesday, Ripped my finger to shreds, had to go to A + E, it was about 1/4" deep Wednesday, Van went right into the side of mine and to top it all off, i have discovered a Hole in the bottom of my good shoes what a shite 6 days

note for you fishaben..... you will probably get a bit of stick of lads on here, a bit of piss taking, but take it all with a pinch of salt they mean no harm. Its like anywhere you go You could start an apprenticeship weather it be electrician, plumbing, mechanics, and get stick of the lads you work with. and thats basically what you are entering, a hunting apprenticeship.. When i first started it was ferreting, then i tried lamping, longnetting snaring trapping shooting. The ways of rabbit control are a life-long learning curve, you learn new things all the time, new material

moley, i would rather leave the pest control to a hobby and a sport. and do the odd clearance job in gardens etc..... (after reading an article in the CMW) Driving all day sounds good to me. and i have put in a letter to MENZIES DISTRIBUTION. its early hours (3am - 11am) depending on how fast you go. you get regular pay, (fortnightly) and i know a lad that works for them and he is minted, so i'll just do a bit more research and see what happens

there seems to be a lot of speculation abotu catching day time and night time hares. IMO they can be as difficult as each other. I personally havent participated in much day time hare coursing. But for those who say Lamping hares is easy, think again, The amount of hares i had seen lamped (pre-ban of course) i have probably seen about 50% missed. And i dont want to read comments on "dogs are shite if you have missed that many" because at the end of the day, a hare is a very wise animal. I have at one point seen a hare get away from 6 dogs. It wasnt intentional to have 6 dogs on

I've had ferret kits opening eyes at 2 1/2 weeks

just do it the way i said. thumb in front of ears, four fingers under chin. pull head and there is a dead rabbit. weather its in a snare, purse net or long net
-
if your in it for the sport, its not all about numbers. As long as your out there, enjoying the peace & quiet of being away from home, then who cares how many you catch? I would much rather be out in the sticks, having a bit of peace, enjoying the nature and come home with only one or two. Than sit at home watching telly doing piss all and getting bored. Just enjoy yourself lads

Driving all day doesnt sound as hard as crawling in attics and under floors pulling stupid bloody cable's. Hurting my back so i cant carry as many rabbits I would much rather prefer sitting in my van all day, listenin to radio or CDs. Keeping warm and dry oh, and working when i want and for how long i want

Right lads as I said, im sick of working for a living. Since i have a good sized van, im thinking of becoming a self emplyed van driver. Any body out there that can point me in the right direction ????????

this is how i was doing it before the other method i said. I was usually alright, but sometimes when you got a rabbit that tightened his neck up it took a little more effort - isnt that right Mr. PegandGun :11: - I found that holding it just in front of the lugs how i described, is best for me. But everyone has different ways of dealing. There is a bit on the DEFRA site about rabbit snaring and the way they describe is "take the rabbit out of the snare, hold it from the back legs and give it a blow to the head with a heavy object, such as a priest" or something along those lines.

put your thumb just in front of its ears. your four fingers under its chin. pull head back so ears are going towards body. aplly a little force against its neck. job done

i got a further 8 this morning, but unfortunatly forgot the camera. 7 of them were in peg wires and 1 in a fence wire. 3 of them were caught jumping the beck. the snare i re-set to 7.5" was again knocked, just shows how high the bunnies jump -
if your culling rabbits for control, rather than sport, you shoud kill both big and little rabbits
-
was it a gd suprise mate??? what are you doing with them? im going to keep a jill or two, and the rest are free to good homes
-
i will get some shortly

looks like Mr. Guns tuition is paying off. Since i have been on the course i have snared about 50 rabbits. from 2003 till before i went on the course, i would be lucky to have caught 50 in three years its good to see decent lad's, sharing their knowledge -
Well, i went to clean the straw out of the bed today and seen 8 kits. I was thinking what the hell!!!!! As the ferret who was last to be mated, i used what i thought was a vaesectomised hob - he clearly isn't. what a suprise!!!!!!

I set some snares yesterday around about dinner time. I had out 33 peg wires and about 5 fence wires. The grass was quite high, i had one snare at seven inches, which had been knocked, so i have re-set at seven and a half inches. Here is some pictures First in a peg The same one, but dead I caught a young rabbit, which i killed and left for the crow's. Picture didnt come out well The third rabbit The fourth picture also did not come out very well tucked himself up nicely. He was caught on a run that goes the full lengt
