JACKING (OR PULLING UP)
baldockbanks courser replied to paddy o neil's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
People who lay in to people should also rember that alough were all safely behind the computer screen now, with a little bit of detective work from someone youv insulted you could always get a tap on the shoulder at a game fair or the like. Then it really is put up or shut up and if your not the kind of person who can hold there hands up and look after your self your comments could come back and bit you on the arse. just treat people fairly. -

i agree this is the pattern and it is anoying. But I think there will always be a point when banter gets to a point where after so many times of people saying my dogs this and your dogs arent that, when a man has to stop talking, dogs dont run on computer screens and if someones confident in his and his dogs abilitys in the feild ( yes the real world ) he can show there worth then its in the other sides court to put or shut up. The same can be said of someone who keeps insulting people ther will be a point where the line is crossed. -

thats not a jacker, the lad doesn't seem to know the score with this situation all he knows is the dog stopped running and wants to know if it will happen again. read into the situation not just the words. the dog DID NOT JACK. he burned out, without doubt. plus my friend you have just proven to everyone you are in no position to comment on this topic and tell this inexperienced guy what to do. first time stopping for this dog rit..... you say "shoot it", yet you say about your terrier that you gave it several chances and kept trying it.. so obviously YOU didn't "shoot it" when i thought you w -

the reason people say they dont keep match dogs. Is that match dogs prove there selves under pressure. any one can have a dog and make statements about it killing 4/5 even if it is in irland and having been to limerick, clare and quite a few other places in ireland I didnt see one scrap of land that would test a lurcher one bit like boston, sleaford, chatteris or baldock while I was there. its good to talk! fetch your dog to any big decent proper coursing land in england next winter and I know a good dog "arthur" a proper match dog whos not affraid to put his good name on the line. anyon -

not being funny fox digger but just saw a topic ( Im looking for a good coursing dog in ireland ) and you said " iV just bought a coursing pup thats a deerhound greyhound x collie whippet something or the other" ! That is not my idea of a coursing dog im not saying it wont be a good lurcher but its not a coursing dog. Iv got a 6 month deerhound greyhound at the minit. and I would not call that a coursing dog Im afraid. a coursing dog capable of running strong hares on big land and worthy of having a gamble on or putting in a single handed comp is breed from the best of the best usuall -

Well mate ,Ive done more thn my fair share and 99% of it has been on big land and with top class quarry. Firstly. The chap stated that it was five mins plus and that is what most folk have answered to why call the bloke a liar unless you have a reason to back it up. Secondly. Nobody was trying to say that the like of foxy and lucky were anything other than top class dogs and yes they may well ahve taken this long to take hares but as I stated in my post this would have been single handed and not doubled up which is were the doubt on the other dogs caperbility is coming into this arguem -

5mins ???????,, did you time it,, hows the dog bred ??,,,, 1min seems like a lifetime when watching a run,,common mistake. just what I said earlier but no one seems to answer that. I bet It put the A.B.S on a good while before five minits. -

Thank you mate I dont claim to be an expert but iv gone through a lot of rubbish to end up with a few good out and out working dogs. I dont kid myself its gutting to see your dog pull up but you can give them the best and they can be breed correctlie but if they havent got the heart thell skid. I had a terreir jack at the weekend I held her back looked after her for years and still did it, that wont ever jack again the coward. As for someone saying they wont run a lurcher at a hare till its two year old! well thats a long time to hold a dog just to find it cant work i m o. God -

you say you are an experienced coursing man but yet you didn't condone running an 11 month old SAPLING on any type of hare corse... this age of dog shouldn't be let loose in an area where hare is present for fear they will follow one and chances are will end up causing irreversible damage to vital organs. crazy.... instead you state that this person wasn't supposed to know the course was going to be as long..... again this dog shouldn't have been off the lead..who can ever guarentee how long or short a course will will be once a hare has ground under him i agree...... reguardless its total lac -

how many of the people who have commented on this subject can honestlie say they have done a full season of running proper single handed dogs 2 - 3 days a week on big land and killed good hares regular???? Because iv read a lot of your answers to this lads question and it doesnt seem like it to me. firstlie did you have the stopwatch and time the run mate? Iv seen a lot of coursing and very few runs ever last five minits, they may seem like it at the time but in reality it was probely 2 mins. secondlie how can you comment on an older dog not being any good for running a hare for a lon -
if you said hes one of the top 5 single handed hare dogs of all time i dont think youd be exagerating. but never herd of a litter brother of his being a good dog but not to say he wernt. He must be dead or real old he was running in 2000 and dont think he was real young then. be intresting to hear if hes still alive or not.

we shall see next year B. me and my brother run my line of saluki lurchers on big aribale feilds with a bit of chalk and flint in places but certainlie not fen and they rarlie get badlie cut due to they run lighter (on the top so speak) than faster types. my mates little whi x col x whea x whi bitch lasted 10 mins on bolted rabbits last weekand was cut to ribbons. while my brothers bitch run all day on same ground taking all bar one she ran. Ill be running one of your old line, a double doxhope 1st x bitch next season on the same ground. to be fair shes got the best looking ball sha

if you buy really expensive dog grub your lurcher will run like a world beater. WRONG. ( unless its breed or is a world beater ) This is the biggest mistake people make and waste a heap of money in the proccess. you cant pollish a turd! I usually keep on quite a few dogs on and if I went out and bought dry food at £2o+ a bag id be living on the streets. I buy "wag" the cheapest dry food and i boil rabbits hares and feed raw deer most days in the season then out of season give them just cheap buiscuits. whats the point giving them good grub over the summer ( a lot of people like to k
