So if the hare is nearing a hedgerow a burst of speed to close the gap approaching the hedgerow would be the difference between catching and not mate ?

A dog right behind 1 it won't take the hedgerow escape route..it usually turns back..if there is a small distance between them it will take the gap everytime. So a fast dog is better there than a plodder...very clever animal..

I've got perm on a farm maybe 12 fields of grass..nearly every hedge row has got a repair patch of 2x4 planks some fields has a few gaps with plank fencing on each hedge row..the hares seem to know every single 1 and use them aswell.

She's due a growth spurt soon mate I think..she ain't like any other dog I've had to be honest it must be a saluki thing lol.apart from whinging and wanting attention constantly she's spot on. Took her out lamping last night and tonight as a spectator she was quiet as a mouse.taking it all in..looking forward to seeing her running behind something can't wait lol..plenty of time though no rush ?

Doing OK mate..took her out last night for 3hrs the stubble fields are like a bloody lake. Off down some pastures fields later hopefully be a bit firmer under foot for the dogs.. How's the young dog getting on with you..
