  1. That's only the first slip if I'm lamping rabbits with him mr blackneck..he's so mad keen he over shoots..so a good long slip across the other side of the field to take the edge off him seems to work..
  2. Greb.. Your best bet mate is cull the akita skin it and make a Davy crocket hat of the fur.. Buy a slop monster a pair of Dunlop wellys get your best tank top on the Davy crocket hat on and hit the slop...
  3. Greb in a few yrs from now I can see you breeding the world famous saluki line.. The lawnshitter line the north's finest runners..powered by kebab meat.. A few years from now you will be in the Saudi deserts searching out the finest gazelles while having £10 bets with the wealthy arabs.. Go get em greb ?
  4. I hope you got them signs in your shed now mate lol...
  5. I don't think the lawn would agree mate ?
  6. I agree with you mate they are a very powerful breed of dog which can and do flip out..I was only saying how I would go about breaking the food aggression in 1 dog by feeding it near other dogs in a controlled way that's all.. Like I said greb seems keen on getting a runner so maybe it's time to make a tough decision ?
  7. As you have said greb you work away sometimes..does your missus walk the akita when you are away the reason I'm asking is if your akita gets attacked by another dog.your missus is in trouble from the off. Now if you are working away and you only have the runner your missus would be sound walking that about with the kids..and you wouldn't have to worry while away.. You seem keen to get a runner so maybe you got to make a tough decision mate.. But ey it's not my business what you do but you might be better off with rehoming the akita and only having a runner about the house mate.
  8. I'm talking about a food aggressive dog that's all..and how I would go about eliminating the food aggression..which shouldn't be there in the first place mate.. I'm not talking about keeping dogs in the same space etc..
  9. I ain't talking about putting 2 bowls of food next to each other on the floor and standing back mate.. I'm talking about feeding small amounts of food maybe the size of an oxo cube to each dog taking turns.and learning the dogs to wait your turn for your piece..the food is in my hand not on the floor..
  10. I was only talking about 1 being or showing signs of food aggression mate.and how I would tackle it personally.. You know your dog better than us mate ?
  11. Hence feeding each dog by hand 1 on your left side 1 on your right side..feeding small little pieces of meat and all the while watching both dogs to see how they are reacting.. We are talking about a dog being food aggresive..not about kennel space..jealousy or dominace..
  12. So what would you do mate..totally avoid feeding them together for maybe 8 or 10yrs..they are dogs mate not man eating lions... The problem is the first dog being allowed to be food aggressive as a pup..any nonsense like that gets nipped in the bud when it raises its head..
  13. I've had staffs/ lurchers/ bull x/ pressa canarios/ Irish staff/ terriers/ all live together and brought in adult dogs and I've never ever had a fight over food ever.... So my stupid ideas seem to be working mate... So to start the first dog wether an akita or what ever breed it is shouldn't be food aggressive..so when a new dog comes in a fight over food simply wouldn't happen would it..
  14. Kebab house lads be gutted they lost there best customer ??
  15. How would you introduce them mate..just throw them both in the garden and stand back
  16. Well go with katchums advice mate which is spot on..meet up the lane or down the street and go for a walk..you will work it out after 5 mins if they ain't bothered with each other etc..then walk them side by side for a bit..
  17. Ah I thought he was being aggressive towards another dog over food mate and not you. Sounds like he was trying his luck a bit as a pup then trying to get up the pecking order so to speak which is normal really being a pup ?
  18. In the way you just said mate..you've had to belt him a couple of times..he doesn't listen 100% to your voice hence he's rebeling a bit. Get the pup and akita in the kitchen give them little bits of meat fed by hand each taking turns. a cooked chicken maybe feed them at each side of your left leg and right leg one dog either side of you.only give little bits at a time to each dog..and slowly bring your hand closer in by the end of the chicken Get them standing side by side..if the akita starts to show aggression when they start standing closer to each other..grab the akitas muzzle and fir
  19. Shh couldn't keep his pup mate as his staff ruled the roost and ruled him I think ? some say he has to ask the staff if he can go fishing ??
  20. Does the akita consider you to be the boss of the house mate or does he rebel a bit when you tell him..
  21. South hams had the same problem mate.his staff was the boss of the house and wouldn't tolerate his lurcher pup.. Sounds like the akita is the boss of the house and you greb..
  22. Little round air vents..easy to space equally apart..fit and live the dream...
