  1. I think it was Charlton Heston who first made that quote but I'm sure he'll let you use it. On a couple of other forums I'm quite outspoken about fox hunting and the right of people to do it. I've never rode to hounds but will defend anyones right to do it. Many shooters especially those who shoot only airgun were/are against fox hunting and were of the opinion that they should distance themselves from it in an attempt to protect their sport. For years I've appealed for unity amongst those that are involved in fieldsports, that means airgunners defending the rights of foxhunters and foxhunters
  2. Licensing isn't the answer and it'll be the beginning of the end for shooting. Airguns are the first experience of shooting sports for a lot of people because they haven't got to do anything to obtain one. If you add to the expense of getting an airgun the cost of a cabinet and a license fee then it will be prohibitive for a lot of people. Secondly there are a lot of people who, for no fault of there own can't get a license. It may be that these people live in properties where their landlord won't allow the fitting of a cabinet or that they've had a messy divorce and they've been deemed to be
  3. I've got a 20 bore Mossberg Hushpower. It's loads quieter than the 12 gauge and hits just as hard. I shoot 32 gram subsonic 5's out of it. I use mine mainly for bunnies, it doesn't make them bolt as much as a rimmie or air rifle when their companions get hit. I believe this is down to the fact that there is no impact noise from the rabbit you have just shot. On stationary targets I shoot mine out to 35 yards. It is long, but once you get used to it you can swing on rabbits and hit them on the run. A couple of trips to the clay range will get you used to it.
  4. The "record" would have been considerably higher than 36. My gun was small, only firing 1lb of shot and a well aimed shot could net 15-18 birds.
  5. thats alot of dogs to be using on a boar mate, on smaller pigs they would make short work of it, but it would be a bloody mess and hardly sporting, if you are expect dogs to just kill pigs you are wasting your time the only way a dog can kill a med- large sixe pig is to chew through the back of the neck or chew the snot off or through the nasal passage, both ways involve alot of pain as it's not over in seconds, expecting any type of dogs to maul a pig to death is to be avoided. To be truthful mate we were mooching for rabbits and foxes up near the artillery range, when we first saw t
  6. Romney marsh and Walland marsh in Kent near Dungerness are places someone with bull x's and Deerhound x Greyhounds and a couple of working Beddies could possible kill an English wild boar without the dogs getting ripped to bits (it was the place a couple of years ago!!). IME the dogs don't get knocked about much more than when run single handed on a hard fighting charlie. Obviously there is the potential for a dog to be killed but unless your dog is particularly hard/stupid it won't go nose to nose with a pig.
  7. Biddenden, Tenterden and Romney Marsh are places I've seen them.
  8. Judges???? What them sour faced birds who knew f**k all?? My boy wanted to show my Whippet x Collie pup. So we waited.........we watched the Dog or Bitch under 12 months SMOOTH and there were some nice greyhound/whippet type dogs. Then came Dog or Bitch under 12 months ROUGH, my boy walked out and stood in the ring and was the only one there, a win by default. This spam faced tart walked over and said " That dog's smooth you've missed that class" So I ran my hand through his collie coat from the tail towards the head burying my hand up to the wrist, I pointed to the feathering on the legs
  9. Go f**k yourself you spunky eyed brothel bred mothers b*****d!!!
  10. { yerrharr you seem to be asking alot of questions yourself and you seem to know alot about what antis do for a newbi .........give the lad a break when he starts asking if your going out badger baiting then you can worry....... ...until then lay off him a bitt his just inquisitive were you never young Fair enough. I may be a newbie here but ain't a newbie to hunting forums and working dogs. I've hunted with dogs in England, done some digging and run greyhounds in Ireland and hunted sanglier in France with wire haired fox terriers. I've got a 9 inch scar down my chest fro
  11. Just a couple of questions........ Why were you doing work experience at 18 years of age? Why so late? Where are you going to college and what course are you studying? ( I know it's gamekeeping but would like you to be a bit more specific) You got some ferrets to practice with? Practice what? I'm from the south and have knowledge of gamekeeping. I never said gamekeeping was a fieldsport but you never said that you had had any lurchers prior to this post. Gamekeepers in the south think lurchers are gipsys dogs? I'm from West Sussex, originally from Surrey and I say you're talking BOLL
  12. Trolls (antis) regularly use hunting/shooting forums. They usually start by making lots of posts asking stupid/basic/provocative questions. When they get a reply that suits their needs they then use that as part of their propoganda, regardless of whether or not it is taken in context or not. Check out Dickboys posts, one minute he/she is a trainee gamekeeper the next my nan knows more about fieldsports. No consistency. Maybe he/she is the worst trainee gamekeeper ever and thick as f**k, but on the other hand maybe he/she is an anti. If you think I'm wrong prove it, P.M. him/her you
  13. If your mummy is a doggy sort of lady who's very qualified why the f**k does she consider bull breeds to be guard dogs? She obviously only knows what the RSPCA or LACS have taught her! Why not get a whippet x greyhound x collie x deerhound x labrador x spaniel and of course a dash of dalmation for spots. That should take care of all your needs and you won't need to ask so many questions, then you can concentrate on studying to be a gamekeeper as you seem to be falling behind, this is evident from the amount of basic questions you post. Maybe you're are stupid maybe you are a troll,
  14. I would classify bulldogs of any breed as guard dogs as they are very loyal and can be aggresive if they feel threatened much like GSD's, Rottweilers dobermans etc obviously they have alot more to them and i ain't going to write any essays which is what it would take!! I would like to know what catergory you would place them? maybe you can enlighten me!!!! Dickboy Fighting dogs, baiting dogs. Any dog can be aggressive if threatened yeeharr
