  1. Thanks seems we all do the same eh! Fresh meat plenty of water and dry fert food. Its what I have always done just wondered if anyone did different! How about the odd egg for instance?
  2. My jill had her litter of 10 (one dead) last week. She is doing OK as are the kits. She is getting meat etc at night, which is removed in the morning to keep the flys away! I make sure shes got dry food to nibble on all day and plenty of water. We all know that jills get dragged down with a litter what do you all do to help supplement their diet?
  3. Good one for the Nick Griffin crew me thinks? I had a work mate who came over from France to work for us. He spoke good English well much better than my French! Integrated his family into the UK paid all his dues etc. On the languge front he and his wife only speak French at home so their children, 2 born in UK, have a complete understanding of his native tongue. Outside they just speak English, with a French lilt! To me this is how it should be?
  4. Decoying I use anything that is free or comes cheap! If it goes bang and lead is in the air your gonna get results! Best I shot over deeks was with 1oz loads! Very kind to shoot all day. Think it was 86 pigeon to 110 spent carts!
  5. Went down the garden this morning to water the ferts and remove last nights leftovers! Opened the jills hutch got my normal greeting but noticed a nest with around 8 wrigglers in it! She never really showed as 'in season' and I seperated her from the hob! Never really showed as expecting either! was quite small and 'normal' Still hey ho more mouths to feed and ferts to find good homes for eh! If anyone in Cambs wants kits from a very tame and good working jill get in touch. Will post a pic tomorrow! Just found out shes got 9! Also found a dead one she had removed from the nest!
  6. We drove the fields mate as you know its very dry at the moment! Mind in fairness its not a bad bit of kit. Its in good nick got good tyres and its nice and quiet! Much more suitable for the job than the Grand Vitara he had!
  7. It was a good nights shooting not ideal conditions but the bunnies were kind! The Titans a .22 with a basic 4 x 40 scope. I changed the moderator to a smaller one just for the night shorten the rifle! May have to keep it on to see how it goes! Must admit it was the best I had shot in a few weeks For the record we had 13 on the first farm and one on the second Total of 14!
  8. Called to see chimp on the way home from work and finished up helping wire up a light on his Sportrack. Then kindly got an invite to try it out! We went to his permission around 10 and on the first grass field got 7 bunnies. Did another field and added another 3. Had one of those nights when it went well and most things I shot at with my trusty Titan Manitou dropped like stones! On way back through the farm we had another quick sweep of the first field, plus a bit we missed first time round, and another 3 in the bag! Did call on one other farm but the luck changed and I only shot 1 So
  9. Did this last year myself! Squeaked in a vixen to within shotty range and took her out! She was carrying a rabbit which went down well with the ferts when I got home!
  10. Some list Buster congrats! I use AA field 5.52 in my Titan Manitou But dont think many people will have one of these!!!!!!!!!
  11. True but I was just gonna hit it with a stick mate Just as well you got open chokes or it would have been in lots of bits
  12. Hey that man! I have got an original Titan Manitou in .22 its a great rifle for sure and looks nice as well. Only single shot but never caused me any problems! I also stick with a 4 x 40 scope what more do you need for a 12ft/lb rifle shooting on average 30 - 35yds? hi mate would you consider selling your titan.cheers.... Thanks for the interest mate but as it stands I would rather keep it! May well do a strip and refinish on the stock to make it look better when I can stop shooting it! I have never had a problem with and as is said 'if it aint broke dont fix it'!
  13. Nice gun and great for pigeons at 10 yds aint that right chimp
  14. Nice one mate! Shooting crow is good fun and harder than pigeons
  15. Try to get some clay drainage pipes for em to get in and if you can get hold of 'greenhouse shade' Drape it over the front of hutch it helps! Failing that an old pub brolly!
  16. One thing just sprung to mind. If you want to use the hob to help get jills 'out of season' I dont think a castrated one works? May well be wrong? Think you need a vasectomised one to do the job?
  17. I just use a 12 bore does the job better than a caller
  18. NP mate as I said its personal pref! Me I have a 12g 28" field O/U so biased I guess? I have used a mates 30" sporter and to be honest the 'extra' makes no difference to the recol in my eyes. If I were just going to use a gun for walking up game, pigeon shooting odd driven days I would go for a 20g. Just real sweet to carry all day!
  19. Go for the field version if it were me purely due to the weight! 30 inch sporter is more of a 'clay gun' and you did say you were shooting mostly game. If you doing a lot of walking you will notice the extra weight of the sproter and the extra 2" will be a pain in tight hide situations. But in the end its down to personal preference Enjoy both are very nice guns
  20. I put out some deeks and use a call. Hide has to be real good and you need to keep movement to a minimum. Once you shoot a few just do as you would with pigeons and set them up as well. I sometimes put a couple out with wings right out and peg the beak in the dirt. Did have an owl decoy as well but was never sure if it helped?
  21. For me a reasonable quality second hand 28 inch multichoke field. Multichoke will give you 'options' but bet you will stick with two chokes! Find a shop which will let you try one out or at least advise on the fit! Good luck Personally wouldnt touch an auto or pump. Not liked at some clay grounds They have no place on an organised shoot in company! Your never sure if they are 'safe' At least with a o/u or s/s you can break the gun and people can see its safe! Just my opinion
  22. My mates an ex Holland & Holland gunsmith. If you ask him about an off the shelf rifle he always says Rem700
  23. There is only one reason Newcastle is where it is! Built to keep the Scots out of England. Mind as they are so close perhaps they would do better in the Scottish second division!
  24. You must put a location or the Mods will remove your thread. Perhaps its a DUTCH CAP and he cant put up the location
  25. Strange this appeared in the news on 1st April I hope it works for them for sure they need something to happen!
