  1. John sent you a pm. As for heavy it sure is but he knocks things down with it OK.
  2. Theay are not bad bits of kit just bloody EXPENSIVE
  3. No offence taken sterry. I knew the gunsmith who gave me the 'formula' wouldnt be wrong his father was a ballistician! I know the old chap had connections in USA so guess its where it originated from? Strange how this works the pellet weight to ft/lb. I do know that Titan and now Falcon set their guns using Bisley magnums to be legal. Must be a reason for it? Incidentally I believe there are only 3 pellets the police can use for testing air guns? Chap at Falcon told me this!
  4. My friend built his own 22.250 I know that goes just under 19lb.
  5. From provarmints pics I recon the load is iether the 20Br or 20PPC wildcat! The guy building it loads all his 22.250 and 22.4000 wildcat rounds. Have seen him take crows, with either, out to 300yds and foxes beyond this! As for the rifle weight its a bloody big barrel and not a carbine. He will also not entertain moderators unless really pushed by customers! He builds em like bench rifles, will try to get a pic once its finished if he will let me!
  6. Chimp get your eyes tested Better off to get a couple of gate nets or a 'cheap' longnet!
  7. Called to see a gunmaker friend today who is building a .20 calibre varmint rifle for a customer. Its still a bit 'in the white' but looks the dogs! Custom laminated stock, heavy 'floating' polished molybdium barrel. Had a hold and its a beaut, bloody heavy but bet it will shoot sweet! Hes into heavy barrel rifles shoots 22.250 and 22.4000 himself with great effect. I recon one of them must weigh around 18lb all up with one round in it! Not one to carry but superb rifles. Anyone else know of any .20 calibre centre fire rifles being used in UK?
  8. Where did the 1,000,000 come from? i been lookin and Ft/lbs = (fps X fps X mass (grains)) / 450240 i think this woul be more likely as it similar to the momentum in my understandin. This is where i found this Was given this by a gunsmith who worked for Holland & Holland, perhaps he is wrong eh?
  9. velocity x velocity divide by 1 million x 2.222 x bullet weight = ft/lb Get a chrony and try it! Oh and I was with chimp when he tried the heavy / light pellet thing with his chrony and pcp and springer!
  10. I think this how it goes re heavier / lighter pellets and 12 ft lb. If you 'tune' a pcp to give bang on 12ft/lb with say AA field (a 16.4 grain pellet) then shoot same gun with Bisley magnums (approx 22 grains) the ft/lb will be in excess of the 12 ft/lb 'legal' limit. I think the reverse of this is true for springers. ie heavy pellet tuned to 12ft/lb gun will be over on lighter pellets? Also am fairly sure that plod have to test any gun with the pellets you are using at the time? Perhaps Decker may know different!
  11. Did you get the ferts off my Mrs? She refuses to go down as well
  12. On a PCP the heavier the pellet the greater the ft/lb On a springer the lighter the pellet the greater the ft/lb Always be aware that pellet weight can take you over the 12ft/lb limit!!
  13. Had a great morning out with chimp Sunday. Started on his permission early and got 4. Then decided to look at some new permission I have close by. Ditches riddled with holes and we managed 12. Have to have another outing to 'finish off' but it looks a good one! Pic of the bag will get pics of the permission next time! Skinned one was for a 'nosey neighbour' who was watching from his house!
  14. Domes for me Air Arms Field! approx 16.4 grains! Generally try to stick with pellets heavier than 14 grains with my Titan Manitou. Falcon (was Titan) 'set' their guns using Bisley Magnums to prevent them being over 12ft lb. All the above aside when I first got the gun I had a tin of BSA huntsman pointed it loved them rabbits hated them!!
  15. This is mine a Titan Manitou in .22
  16. Had a couple last week with early signs of mixy, seems late this year or is it me? As for eating them! A vet at a well known research establishment local to me once skinned cooked and ate a mixy rabbit in front of his collegues to prove the point that eating a mixy rabbit cant harm you
  17. Went for a wander with chimp Friday on his permission so thanks to him. Weather none to special, cold and foggy! Lamping was difficult as it came back off the fog but we managed to get some fert grub! The old Titan still does the biz
  18. Thanks mate any idea on which does what or how to adjust? my unit seems crap!
  19. Bilmey thought someone would have an idea or two!
  20. Took apart a spare MK1 today and was 'playing'! There a two blue adjustable 'items' not sure of the tech term! Anyone know what either one does? One is opposite the dial the other at the business end

    eating crow

Wouldnt think crow would be that good! My dad used to eat rook pie when he was younger though. Only used 'branchers' as they were young shot em just before they left the rookery with a .22
  22. Thanks again DM. Did speak to Mick who said if it needed calibrating he would struggle to get the parts! I will get the spare box I have and try that, but the switch is dodgy. May be able to make 1 from 2! Mate who gave me it gave me 3 collars the all seem to work to 4'
  23. Thanks digger. All advice gratefully received and tried! Gonna try something other than alkaline batteries, what is best?
  24. Good link! And they also do a full range of bits! The lamp looks very similar to one Deben have on their site for £50!!!
  25. Update on this! Spoke to Deben who are as much use as holed condom! They say cant do anything as they have no spares or facility to repair. Finally spoke to Mick Dadd who did give some advice, so thanks to him Could be battery power, the box needs 'calibrating', dry joint, or good old fashioned dirt! Have to see where it goes from here. Will ask my electrical whizz mate again and post his findings. If he can fix em could be the source for repairs we all need!
