    Sat a double high seat yesterday evening with my son and waited til it got cooler , watching a doe and kid in front of us out feeding . Tried a few calls and the doe came running as expected but no buck .Eventually a buck came in a field to our right chasing a doe . Few peeps had him stopped and he walked to the low fence between us but instead of hopping over he carried on up the fence line and out of view behind a large bramble patch . Carried on calling and sure enough he was heard to the bottom right of the seat , thrashing the brambles out of sight . Another quiet peep and he’s right und

    Saw a buck chasing last night through the thermal .Might see about calling him soon .He looked knackered mind ,sitting down every time the doe stopped .

    The layers are only in the sheds for approx 8 months ,then caught up and the shed is washed and moved to new ground with new birds .If left alone with no poison we have done 400 plus regularly from each shed in the past with our best 640 odd but that was before any poison was used .The numbers self regulate when they get too overcrowded by canabalism

    The chicken sheds have been very quiet recently with very little rat activity due to the change of pest controller who knows his job (b*****d lol).Got the call last minute as usual and turned up with 4 terriers . Like the old days really with rats breaking out as the shed was moving and terriers doing their thing . Finished with 168 with about 20 killed under the shed as it cleared the muck and not in the pic . Hopefully some immunity has been built up . Brings our running tally to 19,775 since starting in 2008

    So maybe there isn’t an great deal about of the original stuff Glyn lol . Terriers on the limit for earthwork and solid bodied . The debate will rage on but Nuttals originals are few and far between I’ll wager . Some first class animals in this thread mind .

    Can't even take the piss without someone turning it into a worthwhile thread .Place has gone to the dogs . As to diet ,during the foot and mouth the Beaufort had to feed dry biscuits and pork pies instead of the flesh they were used to and they looked a sorry state in all fairness .The quality of food should never drop but the quantity should be adjusted according to workload or lack of it and weather if outdoors .A good stockmen will adjust food subconsciously through just looking at the dogs .Hate to see fat dogs at any time of the year but like to see a dog starting the day with prope

    Got a young dog here that saw 3, tail end of last season so hopes for a good start coming up .Grounds like concrete here need rain badly .Never seen the grass so dead ,nearly white in places .
