The chicken farm I shoot on found 14 light Sussex in with his reds yesterday lol . The sad bit is they were killed for risk of disease .

I think foxes in fur farms, without doing a search ,are a subspecies of the red .Smaller and thicker furred . Id love to bag a black fox ,room on the wall for that cape deffo .

Totally agree mate but I’ve also seen terriers used for exclusive digging terrierwork that look stupid on a ratting day and I mean stupid with owners very embarrassed .It’s about giving the youngster as much variation at the right stage of its life to culminate in a well rounded animal that takes everything in its stride .If ratting is part of your life you going to want a ratter ,if digging us the only vocation then ditto but both is very doable in spade fulls .

The amount of ratting a lad does will determine when they are entered .Mine tag along at about 6 months but that’s not entering is it .Entering to me is taking the youngster out on its own to see if it’s ready to tackle something alone and in it’s own environment .Ragging a corpse is not entering ,killing anything with the pack is not entering ,entered implies that terrier is ready to join the fray as a ratter in its own right and the only way that’s proven is to take the youngster on its own at the appropriate age to let it work unaided .Same with digging .I like a dog to be independent wher
