    Where I grew up there was a rough end of town ,we called it Beirut but was in fact called Coleman’s farm . The stream that ran into town from that area was always rat infested and you’d often see a small pack of dogs hunting it on their own ,no human intervention at all .I was fascinated by the sounds of the hunt and used to look for those dogs after school .The kids there were in perpetual fight mode with the rest of the town it seemed but I was mates with a few so left alone .One brindle staffy bitch seemed to catch everything and from memory the rest ate what she killed .     It is mate but it’s easy to look at members and see what else they are posting .Weird that some just post here and don’t seem to have a hunting connection at all ,it’s after all called the hunting life .

    Bucks get a bit sparse after the rut mate .The bigger lads will be lead up recovering whilst a few young hopefuls maybe out trying their luck ?     The flip side of the lads that own multiple runners is churning out untested pups meant to catch the ear of anyone who will listen .I’d rather of gone to a yard with the one well worked bitch and pups than a yard full of whatever’s in fashion all looking fresh and clean muzzled . For me the graft came before anything and despite the claims of some that dogs escape scars or are very clever ?I’d still like to see a few medals on a dog no matter if it’s only rabbits .A trier will pick up a few medals at some point in its career be it barbed wire or teeth .

    They don’t mate ,it’s a front you learn to spot .Same as terriers . You can only work a brace proper or your kidding yourself they are working . These big leashes you see at shows say a lot about the owner ,feck all about the dogs .

    Decent trained dogs can be run singly off slip. Used to do that very thing when I was younger and there were rabbits about .Mother and daughter . Does no one ever work dogs off slip anymore to heel .Train one you can train another .Jealous retrieves we’re a thing but soon got over that if you keep on top the spare dog . Times I’ve been out with people who’s dogs are doing somersaults when it ain’t their turn .Very amateur .

    The close ones are the ones I seem to feck up .Much rather they stayed out there a bit .Out last night at farmers request ,he’s a needy fecker tbh . Saw 3 but no shot .Cattle ,sheep any excuse not to shoot tbh ? Out tonight on the rats with airgun .Can’t decide if it’s fac or not though . Im a bit cosy on the airgun forum so might be fac at 15 m .Challenging shooting ,for a one eyed dwarf with a twitch .
