  1. Its a good defense, and its not a good idea to remove the glands I.M.O My ferrets only bomb when they are scared, 99% of the time they are not scared. But if your working them, its good they have it. My hob bombed the first time i worked him, and he resurfaced soon after. I would hate to be a rabbit and cop it in the face, i tell you one thing. That is pure danger  cheers
  2. Sounds awsome mate. cant wait to see this pics
  3. Happend to me when i got my first ferret. I put him in his box, and on the way home in the car i couldnt subside temptations. So i open the box and go to pick him up, he was probably scared shitless. But he locked on to my index finger. Straight through the nail. b*****d didnt want to let go, and he was even pulling back on me. I left him go and shut the box so it was dark. He let go after a while, so i sealed the box up and tried to stop the bleeding. Bled for a good 10 mins i wrapped it in a jumper. I handled the b*****d with a glove after that, and everytime he would struggle a

  5. Hey Guys, I recently got an Mk1 shipped over here. And have been waiting and waiting for a lay-up But i finally got one, and got a chance to dig. My hob decided to bottle a bunny in a stop end, and after waiting a while for some action, i got a mark on him. He wasnt moving and was less than 1foot down. Cheering, after abit of digging through some tough clay i broke through to my first bunny in a stop end. After abit of a feel around, it was snug up in the end. It came out easy and I was wrapped. The little dig was easily refilled and i was on my way. P.S if anyone has a
  6. Can someone give me a run down on these 'quickset's. I undestand the basic concept of a longnet. But i have no idea of how to set one, or what actually makes it 'Quick' to 'Set'. Cheers

  10. Im 18, I have noticed alot of Rabbits like digging in around the railway tracks. Their is a really good area 10 mins away from me with rabbits. However they have decided to live in the black berries. Are there holes under the black berries? or do they just live in them

My hob is abit to smart for his own good, He works a warren beautifully and will clear every rabbit. If there are no rabbits in the set he just comes out and i start picking up nets while he walks over to me. However i do get the problem sometimes when he knows he bolted a rabbit and knows that it is in a net. He comes out of the hole where the rabbit bolted from and wont go back down the set. Because he wants the rabbit in the net!, If i put him in a hole 5 mtrs away, he surfaces from the hole the rabbit bolted from. Maybey he does this because there are not rabbits left in the warre

  14. I probably worked my Hob around 3-4 months old, but now i see how big my Jill is at 3-4 months, i am quite reluctant due to the size factor. I have been giving her a run through some pipes, and even cleared out a warren with my Hob and let her have a play with a collar on so i know where abouts she is. I still think she is abit young to work a warren by herself, Because i have a good working Hob Im not impatient with the Jill. I will take my time, and if i need to work a warren i just use my Hob. I think i will give the Jill another month. She will be right, I have ran her down the

  19. See if you can toilet train them, I just did it with my Kit and she took to it quite easy I cant stand piss everywhere, My hob pisses everywhere but i think its scent marking. I wonder if he wouldve used the box if he was trained Cheers
  20. I dont have access to a locator at the moment, And I went hunting with my Hob. Every warren he entered he caught a rabbit. Its almost impossible to find them when digging at random, However on one set a doug 6 holes and managed to get into the main chamber and there he was having a good feed. But atleast i got the bunny, It wasnt as bad because the soil was nice and easy to dig, but it is really hard trying to find him..
  21. The Kit takes it without winging for a while. He will carry her a couple of meters and she doesnt mind. After a couple of meters and obstacles that the hob crosses it anoyes her abit and she starts to winge and nip back. Then he just stops and doesnt let go,
  22. Thanks guys, Maybe when the Jill is older she can then hold her own abit better. I will give her another month or so Thanks again Mitch
  23. Hey guys, Im new to ferrets and need some help. I started off with a Hob about 6 months ago, he is now larger and stronger. I recently bought him a freind, a 8 week old jill that is now 10 weeks. Im not sure when to put them in the cage together or what to expect. I have read as much as possible but im hoping someone has had the same experience, When I let them play and check each other out on the grass, the Hob picks my Jill up by the scruff and runs off with her. He doesnt stop just keeps going When i grab him by the scruff he still holds her and doesnt let go until i open hi
