So do you guys think the Wind is a key factor in bringing out the rabbits?
-
I think it depends on materials. I have to double knot, Made the single knot mistake allready :realmad: Bye bye rabbit.......
-
Get an old bird cage... Stand one end up with a twig , tie a line onto the twig and have the line going to a spot behind some cover. Put some seed or something that they will come into eat under the cage. Wait till you see some pigeons in there and crawl behind the bush and pull the string. The stick comes out and the cage falls over the pigeons. I used to catch heaps like that when i was young bloke, good fun.

Good stuff, three is better than none. I have been out a few times with none, rather dissapointing. But i will keep on trying , i think it will just be time and i will wait for the perfect night

There is a chap on this forum called Woodga, he has a rabbit snaring dvd made and it is top stuff. It covers absolutly everything you need to know from making snares, tealers , pegs and setting them... the whole shammozzle. If you do a search for Woodgas Snaring DVD im sure you will find a link to where you can buy it. Its worth it, because it will really show you how to do it properly.

Excellent, I have the same fencelines here, I never really know where to place the snare. Do you position it as the rabbit would go under the bottom wire? The only prob with my fences is that the wire is about 6 inches apart, I dunno if the bunny will hop in the middle, or crawl under the fence.... Cheers mate, good job

What are the prime conditions for snaring? -
Hey guys, this little guy was living around my garden and i managed to find how he was coming in and out of my yard and snare him. After watching Woodgas dvd I lacked in materials especially the brass but woodga set me straight, and i used copper wire instead. Only one drama, i took him around the hips. I beleive this is because the height of the soil was higher on the other side than to where the snare was set. So my snare wasnt high enough... Oh well practice practice practice..... A big thanks too woodga Cheers guys

Thats great stuff, it just makes it look so simple. Its rather frustration when i check my snares to nothing But keep on keeping on! Nice one lads
-
Nice one mate, Its a great feeling catching ya first rabbit with a snare, they look like some good snares you have made Im sure plenty of lads on here will be able to tell you different factors for why the other rabbits got out of the snare, or knocked them over. but excellent stuff i cant wait till im catching a few more bunnies with snares

How do you do it? i have a whislte, but would love to use my hand, incase i forget my fox whistle. Alot of foxes over here just laugh at you and dont come into bow range. I have had a few run at me, But some are really cautious and some dont even know what the sound of my whistle is! It mimocks a rabbit , and out on the farm there are few rabbits what other noises will work for calling foxes?

I caught my first rabbit by watching that dvd.... (and only rabbit, so far!)

Mine get whole rabbits sometimes... Fur and all. Normally they are getting skinned and paunched bunnies bones and all. They seem to be the best for them When not on bunnies they are getting rabbit and chicken flavoured cat food. Bunnies are best i find

Incredible prices .... Your lookin at 50 dollars min over here... 25 pound

Hey guys I got woodgas DVD Cheers Woodga And i struggled with finding some brass wire at the correct gauge. However i found some copper and have decided to use that. Unfortunatly the batteries on my camera gone, but i will have pics up soon of the ones i have made. Here are my qtns, I cant get hold of decent eyelets, so i have bent an eye out of the wire. Just by running it around a pencil, Will this suffice? I would also like to know the difference in using the Single strand tealers and the Fig 4 tealers. My guess was the fig 4 tealers are just alot more heavy duty. H

Cheers guys Im taking them out today and think they will come in handy. It was suggested to me to make the 25 yrd nets so i could use them as stop nets or combined as a longnet. I still have more netting here ready to make another 25 yrd net. So i will have 75 yrds of net in total. I guess its just down to experimenting and working out the best ways, I will get some pics up of my day Thanks for the help

Hey Guys Have aquired myself 2 , 25mtr stop nets. Just would like some help on using them whilst ferreting. I know with Longnets you surround the hole warren, but what should i do if the net is not long enough? I figured many ppl use stop nets and some tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated
-
I have just got a longnet, and i have fibreglass ones. Alot of people recomended them when i was asking, they suggested the ones from Magnum Trap co.
