  1. Now the ferreting has finished its time to start trapping, made a start yesterday evening and got the first 15 in the ground, only another 85 to go ;D
  2. Have you got your free licence to trap them?. A fisherman here got fined £1600 for trapping crayfish on the Basingstoke canal without a licence.
  3. The flat pack design is basically Bethel Rhodes, flat pack used to make the springs for Bethel Rhodes then started making the trap. As d6k rightly says Bethel Rhodes manufactured the original Duffus trap.
  4. Bethel Rhodes still make a good quality trap.
  5. All those that go on a weeks BPCA/RSPH course without any prior pest control knowledge or experience, sit the exam and pass, qualified Yes competent with field experience not many.
  6. Very nice but I agree with salukiwhippet the Jay picture does not do us any favours apart from being illegal.
  7. The spray away works well, attaches to the hose and uses infra red monitor and when it senses movement turns on a sprayer I have a customer that uses it for the herons on the pond and works a treat. Trap Man
  8. Ian, I use them only for mink and if the pan is fitted and postioned correctly you get a double strike everytime, I not saying that you won't with a normal trigger but with pan the mink is caught by both jaws everytime. This is only personal experience and I am sure many will disagree but its what works for you.
  9. The trap pans do have there uses for sure as do the round triggers, good Masterhunter cubby tunnel though
  10. It comes with two wires and replacements will be available. I think you will have to use their cables as the wire and lock comes under the approval I believe.
  11. That martin has an amazing thick winter coat, but I have noticed even here in the UK with all the cold weather some of the pelts from trapped foxes and mink have been thicker. Except the hairless mange town foxes.
  12. This one is as good as any. Wild About Britain
  13. I use Iowa Earth Anchor made by a local fabricators.
  14. any one no the web address for pro trapper thanks! Pro Trapper
  15. DEFRA have confirmed that the wording is wrong and will amend it, but not until the next Spring Trap Approval Amendment which is likely to be next October. Until then the current wording will apparently stand.
  16. YET ..... ;0 The issue of the tunnel would be overcome quite simply by producung the tunnel here to fit the trap - but as I told you, without a tunnel they are unusable pretty much OTC OTC, the problem is if you go by what the Spring Traps Approval says it's the tunnel thats the problem. It was the GWCT that put these through approval but the delay in bringing them in has been cost and tunnel. 120-2
  17. Well that again is an issue I've been discussing with the manufacturers. There some product information here http://www.predatortraps.com/traps_doc200.htm As I understand it they have performed very well in test giving a very high instant kill rate. However at the moment there is no imperative to use these rather than a much cheaper traditional FENN or even Bodygrip trap. I guess this could change if legislation changes in the future but at present £25 for a DOC vs £8 for a FENN seems a hard thing to justify - hence this thread to test the water. John I have a couple of 2
  18. Just a thought, do you have permission from the land owner to put the snares down?
