Nope...nothing floating about the Silhouette, bolted firmly into a snug fitting stock! Deker, Do you think it would make much difference if the barrel was floated? young1982

I'm I right in thinking that the Silhouette has a floating barrel.

Matt, Not sure to tell you the truth mate I read something on a forum then googled it, I like the sound of what it was capable of.
-
SS, Foxes would be the main quarry on my hit list.

I'll probably end up getting a .243 but I wanted some different and up for long range varmints.

Matt, I'm going to be joining a club at some point (possibly Brecon Rifle club), but because of where I live I can't see myself going that often so it's going to be used mainly for foxes and long range varmints. I do have a mate who's a keeper in Scotland who said I could come up for a weekend and do some stalking so it will be used for deer at some point.

I'm still undecided what cal. to go for when I put in for my first centrefire next month, I've been reading a bit about the 260 Remington and wanted to know what everyone thinks of it. Many Thanks young1982

young1982 replied to dan_hunter's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
It would be handy if everyone wrote down in their posts what rifles they have, that way we all know what rounds shoot best in what gun. -
I've got the CZ 452 American with the Varmint barrel and out of all the rounds I've used it shot best using Winchester Supreme, I've only used 17g so I can't say if their better than the 20g or vice-versa. Hope this helps ATB

I've been thinking about going on the module one course that Riflecraft offer, but before I send them any money I wanted to know if any of you have gone on the course and what you thought of it? Thanks

Mine is the same mate. I rang Jackson Rifles to ask them about it but whoever I spoke to didn't have a clue what the hell he was on about. I told him that the anodise coating had been burnt off and the heat had started to melt the centre of the mod, after a long pause to said this is normal. I'm not convinced this level of damage is normal, what do you think?

Or in west Wales

I would recommend cleaning your SAK every 100 rounds, it's surprising how much crap collects after so few rounds. Remember "Cleanliness is next to godliness"

I've just started trying to squeak foxes in by hand and I'm looking for some tips to help perfect my technique. At present I'm using two fingers to cover my mouth and then by sucking in air at one corner I can get quite a good squeaking sound going, the problem I'm finding is getting it going in the first place and keeping it going because after a few mins my lips go to shite a my mouth can't take it anymore. If anyone has any tips or pointers my I would appreciate it.

Unless I have missed something the 17HMR an 17MACH2 are available as a 452 & 453 and only available in two formats... The American is ONLY available with a Light barrel. The Varmint is ONLY available in a Heavy barrel If you like a heavier gun or throw a LOT down the range consider the Varmint, if not get the American! Actual general day to day performance will be the same! The Varmint is an American, if that makes sense. I have one and on long walks across fields it does become quite heavy, but that said it's still a cracking rifle. My mate has a 452 American w

When I was looking into getting a lamp a few months back I was only looking at getting a lightforce lamp for no reason other than I knew they were a big name in lamps. When I had the cash I went to Litts in Newport to sort myself out with a lamp and after talking to one of the boys there he recommended that I go for a nite stalker as they have a better build quality that lightforce and have less to go wrong. In the end I went for the nite stalker 180 and it was worth every penny . There was a issue with glare but it’s nothing that 3 coats of black spray paint won’t solve, the only ot

why are they illegal mate ? I was always lead to believe that they were I might be wrong, I think my local gun dealer told me.
-
Your only aloud 5 shot mags in the UK mate, I don't think CZ would post you a 10 mag as it's illegal.
-
varies between £10.50 / £ 12.50 depending where i get them Cheers Seen as youre in Gwent then Litts were doing them for £20/100 if youre interested. I'm not in Gwent mate I'm in Pembrokeshire, litts is about a 2 hour drive away.

As it says above really, just wanted to know what everyone is paying. At present I'm using 17g winchester ballistic tips and I'm paying £12.50 for a box of 50, someone tried to charge me £13.00 the other day (I didn't pay it ), I went to my local gun dealer yesterday he had priced up Remington ballistic tips at £13.50 a box!

Each round has it's pros and cons it all depends on your style of shooting. I have both the .22 and .17hmr on my FAC but only have the .17hmr at present, I've spent the last week in Scotland helping a friend who runs a pest control business shooting rabbits and I took the .17hmr with me. It became quite clear very quickly that the .17hmr gave off to loud a crack to use all the time, sending the rabbits running for the hills after every shot (bar one) so most of the time his .22 was the weapon of choice. Personally I like going for long shots at rabbits and when september comes i'm going

I've been out loads of times with my mate who has two bull crosses so I've had some experience with them so I know what their like, I'm sure they have their good points personally I just don't like them. Anyways lets not stray away from the original topic, "Whippet X's, Your views on what would be a good cross"

Maybe retarded was the wrong word to use, but having a dog the doesn't know when to stop or know it's limitations is no good for me.
