    I'm thinking of getting a Remington 700 LTR .223 and was wondering if anyone out there has one and how do they find it. I've read quite a few reviews which all rate it highly but it's always good to hear from people who have owned one themselves.     SS, The cheepest place I could find one when I got a spare was Sportsmans Gun Centre I can't remember what I payed (under £30), make sure you ask if they are in stock before placing your order. I've never place a order with them that went smoothly. ATB young1982

    Your right in saying that I'm not ready for a bird yet mate I know that myself, and I'm not one for doing something on a whim which is why I always do my homework before taking anything new on. I have read books on the subject some of which I got myself and others have been lent to me by friends, I only asked about what time of year to get a bird because some of the books say different things.

    Evening all, in the new year I'm getting my first Harris Hawk and as I'm new to the sport I was hoping that someone could point me in the direction of a reputable breeder. I live in S.W Wales but would be willing to travel anywhere within reason, if anyone could help me I'd appreciate it.     Spoke to the vets yesterday and they recommended I used something called "Stronghold". I'll put a link below to a website with some info if anyone is interested, but basically it's used to treat fleas, ear mites, some sort of worm, biting mites and some other stuff I can remember.     I'm just wondering how everyone goes about dealing with ear mites, my ferts have them again so I'll have to take a trip to the vets after work to get some drops. The problem is that my mate who I go ferreting with has ferts that have them so when they mix in the box mine catch them, is there a jab they can have to protect them against them? ATB young1982

    I hear what your saying brother and I agree with you totally, centrefire calibres deliver a much larger amount of hydrostatic shock to what they hit so the odds are in their favor.

    Do yourself a favor and get a cleaning rod and all the necessary bits to go with it, their much better than using a boresnake.

    Don't underestimate the .17HMR it's more than capable of dropping a fox out to 100 yards.

    Personal I found them to be a pretty good but if you can get hold of hornady or federal give them a crack I found them more consistent

    yep i agree thats why we have a page for fac questions as the site is called hunting life fac is part of that and mate like me your still a newbee so please bill yer heed Do you two not get what I'm on about? I just think that in the "Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns" forum at the top where it says IMPORTANT TOPICS there should be a topic for FAC related questions. Riggers I might be a newbee on this site but I've held a FAC for years, but in the past and to date any questions I've had concerning my ticket are answered by my local FA Office, thats what he's there for.

    I'm sure I'm not the only one who's been thinking this but I'm getting sick of all the topics getting posted asking questions about FAC's all the time, as it comes up so often why don't we have a "Important Topics" for FAC related questions? I'm not having a go at anyone but the forum tends to get flooded with this type of topic and ends up going stale. A note to all you newbies try using the SEARCH tab in the nav which should be located in the top right corner of your screen before posting a topic. ATB young1982
