  1. Hi Andy, welcome to the forum.
  2. It's not just South Wales, Derbyshire police are promoting a super heavy duty steering lock now. This is due to over 40 Land Rovers, mostly Defenders having been stolen in the northern half of the county this year. Most are never seen again, and police are urging owners to make their Landies more secure.
  3. Probably not when garden guns were first popular. Now though, they will be classed as a firearm needing a full FAC I would think.(If ammunition is available for it) Most fire a "Flobert" type bullet, that is a dumpy bullet between 5mm and 9mm propelled just by the primer. This makes them ideal for garden pests at short range, without blowing up the cabbage you were trying to protect in the first place.
  4. I think most .22 subs vary a bit in reliability. I have recently tried CCI, Winchester, magtech and Eley. I seem to be able to shoot reasonable groups with any type, then the odd wild shot shot will happen, not even on the target at all never mind the centre. The Eley are definitely the best of the bunch, very reliable and consistent. Strangely pungent smell from Eley though, must be a different propellant. I was told by a lady who used to shoot .22 for England, that Eley match rounds were made on the newest machines and the cheaper "Club" spec ammo was made on the older machines. So maybe so
  5. Good choice Redwill. My mate has just bought a 2nd hand one in .177, I have had a good go with it, just on targets as he was setting it up. It shoots really well and would be my pick if I was after another air rifle now. I don't think you were robbed on price for a brand new one. Hope you have a lot of enjoyment from it.
  6. Nice post skycat, lots of good tips there. I like your fun approach to training, it always works for us too.
  7. If you shoot like a prat and fart a lot, you probably had some of mine!! Seriously mate, 16 pints is about two bodies worth! You must have been in a bad way. So glad you are "mended" now.
  8. hh, if no one on here is offering you anything, why not phone the local gunshops? They usually have a few cheapies in that have been part exchanged. Also, some bargains to be had on guntrader.co.uk
  9. Me too SS. My blood is the common as muck variety. Had a nice Schaeffer pen and a certificate for 50 "pints" a while ago. Next one will be #63 I think. The things you do for a free tea and biscuits!! Keep up the donating stokie, but have your breakfast mate.
  10. How the hell can someone go out and buy a pup and not expect something like this. FFS it's only been on the bloody earth for 8 weeks, and most of that time will have been spent in a comfy whelping box, with a big warm mum and litter brothers to snuggle up to. Try a warm, not hot, water bottle wrapped in a towel and put it in a box or cage to sleep in. When we have pups, new owners are given a piece of the vetbed which the pups have all been on, so something with a familiar smell on it is available for sleep time. We sacrifice a puppy pen sized vetbed for any litter of pups. We also spend a con
  11. Fear not analyticalman, it is said that nature abhors a vacuum. You have been very successful and temporarily cleared them out, but eventually rabbits on the move and looking for territory will be back.just stick to paper punching for a bit. The long eared ones will return.
  12. Here at last eh? What took you so long? Anyway, welcome to THL, enjoy using the forum. Dunno what advice you want, but it's best to post requests in the section for whatever you need, airguns, lurchers, 4x4, shooting sports etc.
  13. I have these same mobile dodges written down. I have used *3370# on my Nokia when the battery was going, and it worked for me. Don't know about the others on Ian's list. We did try the car unlock a couple of weeks ago, when someone at our clayshoot locked the keys in his boot. The car itself was unlocked, in fact the roof was off (Saab coupe), but the boot would not open.He had to be driven home for the spares!
  14. It doesn't matter much whether it's wild or being worked, to get a shot like that is really good!! Well done Doxhope, thanks for sharing it.
  15. Hi Reeco, welcome to THL. Let everyone know what part of the country sporting life you are interested in.
  16. I would not let such a trifle put me off this type of gun. The tactical is a superb rifle. Silencers come loose on any gun, they should be fitted on lightly greased threads and just "nipped" up, not overtight. So, any shooter should just "feel" the silencer every so often and nip up as required.
  17. Hey GeoffC We live in California where every thing is high ( gas, shells, people ) $120 an hour for labor Coffee $4 a cup diesel $4.93 gas $4.29 Whats the cost for fuel where you live? Ducs N Bucs probably about the equivalent of $10 a gallon if not more Yep, that's about right nowadays. I was in Wisconsin last July, and some local lads were complaining that "gas" was nearly $4 a gallon (then anyway). They were amazed when I told them we were paying $8, although our gallon is a little more than a USG.
  18. Isn't Exeter a town then Ollie?? There are plenty of complete pricks living in the country, so don't blame just town dwellers. There are few real bad dogs that haven't been made that way by the brain dead fuckwits that own them. I see a growing trend round here for wannabee gangsters to have a bull cross. These inadequate dimwits think walking around with a big dog makes them look hard. Unfortunately, they know diddley-squat about dogs and their pathetic efforts at training usually result in an aggressive, barely in control very unhappy dog. Dogs are too easily obtained, and too many so cal
  19. The chokes on my Lanber are just like yours Karl. They are just as SS says except no notches for skeet instead of five. Take a tip, put the full and 3/4 somewhere safe. Unless you intend shooting at long range, you will not need them. I have an extra 1/4 and shoot double 1/4 for more or less everything. I find that an edge on clay pigeon can be easily broken at 40 yards with a 1oz load, using 1/4. So a woody, much larger than a clay can be taken with 1oz of six shot, at similar range. Reading through similar posts to yours on here, I think new shooters worry too much about choke. Put in your
  20. "Midland"!!! Thanks for the reminder Highlander, I was scratching my head last night, trying to remember what make the old CB was. I knew the aerial was a "Firestick", but the make of the rig wouldn't come. Living here in the midlands, I shouldn't have forgot!!
  21. Heh Heh, so you are a white dog van man then. No problem mate, I know plenty of those!! Enjoy your time on the forum, plenty of knowledgeable folks on here.
  22. Hi Ducs N Bucs, the problem is fairly common. To prevent it, most UK/ European market manufacturers have it as a service item to change the fluid every two years. $139 sounds a bit expensive to me. Unless any problems occur, like say a siezed bleed nipple. I would have thought an hours work plus a litre of brake fluid. Maybe $ to $100 max. Maybe the charge out rate is higher in the USA?
  23. Thanks for the memories fishfish, yes they were different times. CB was just a bit of harmless fun, and could be also a lifesaver at times. Heh Heh, the yellow Morris Ital vans, they had hundreds of them, weren't they buy one get one free?? Anyway, it;s a big 10-10 'till we do it again, way on, way down, breaker break!!
  24. Mr L, I can't say I know anything about any changes to bringing scopes from the USA, and wonder why there should be? Anyway, for what it's worth, my lad bought a scope in a Wal-Mart in Wisconsin, last July. It just went in his luggage, through the x-ray and into the hold, no problem at all. I can't remember the type, he has it out right now, I just remember he reckoned it was a super bargain, so he bought it! I found it amusing seeing the odd trolley with a box of ammunition next to the baked beans! You did have to get an assistant to unlock the glass front though, you couldn't just help you
  25. I don't think it was me, last time I was in Derbyshire I was at Pride Park watching Derby County get beat :clapper: :whistling: Heh Heh, I wonder if anyone can remember being in Derbyshire the last time the Rams won one? I'm pretty sure it was the day Allied Carpets didn't have a sale on!!! (He thinks it was a Peakoil tanker that had the mirror)
