  1. Welcome, enjoy the thread but ignore the posts by pardus, he's a complete twat. Would argue with himself and still be wrong.
  2. How many people are actively out looking? Very few. When I saw the pine marten it was a good sighting but no time to get a pic. I asked a few local people if they'd ever seen or heard of martens in that area and the answer was no, never. I reported it to a group based at Exeter university. After a long chat they confirmed other sightings and proof on a trailcam fairly close to that location despite there being no releases in that area. If there are cats still around it is likely to be very few, very difficult to track and even more difficult to film. As long as they are feeding on wildlif
  3. Possibly, but you have to take account of territory. If you take Exmoor, barely 700 square kms. The most likely big cat will be of the leopard family, 1 animal needs a territory estimated at 35 kms2 at least, they are solitary creatures. In the wild it can be up to 1000kms2. If they ever did breed the youngsters are driven out to find their own territory. Lets imagine that in the peak there were possibly 3 cats on Exmoor, feeding on wildlife but also the odd sheep? Current estimates are that there are 15,000 breeding ewes on the moor, that means possibly 22,000 lambs in the spring, that
  4. In my area it was mainly arable or dairy, plenty of wildlife though, deer in abundance, rabbits, hares, pheasants. In places like Exmoor, Bodmin and Dartmoor there were carcases found, probably not all of them though, many more went unnoticed, deaths happen with livestock and few farmers look for a reason particularly with flocks that run the moor and only get brought in for lambing or shearing.
  5. It was mid 1980s. Yes I would bet on it. We are both country people, used to seeing wildlife. We saw it and agreed that it was a big cat. Sizewise, we reckoned the body was about labrador size with a long tail. The most telling thing was the way it moved, nothing else could move like that.
  6. Like I said earlier, I've seen a cat twice. The last time was at dusk when we were spud harvesting. The farmer and I were cleaning down the machine, sun was going down and it was bloody cold. The field was sloping upwards and I saw the cat on the skyline silhouetted against the sky. It was walking slowly. I nudged the farmer and pointed, we watched it for maybe 20 seconds, no more than 100 yards away. There was other sightings around the area around the same time so people were actively looking for the cat, quite a few wanted to shoot one as proof. We decided to keep quiet about it and le
  7. Childish and crude insults aren't fun, just pathetic. Disagree with someone by all means but there's no need to ruin threads like he did.
  8. Keep the twat and a few others off the forum and it will be a better place for the decent members. If not, this forum will keep losing members and eventually die. Losing him isn't a loss, it's a positive.
  9. Seen two back in the 1980s, witnessed by other people. Nothing since. Back last year I saw a pine marten on Exmoor, others said "crap" but I reported it and found out there was 2 other sightings within a mile, confirmed by trailcam but asked to keep it quiet. Could be the same with cat sightings?
  10. Normally I would but c**ts like Greb and a few others I don't want to be associated with. I was proud to post on here years ago, not any more. Him and his type have ruined this forum
  11. So he might, but it isn't hard to suss out the weirdo is it? Get rid of him and a few of the other pricks that drag this forum down and it might survive but realistically, look at the threads and posts and judge how newcomers will see the forum, established members have left, new people will run a mile and the forum will die. All because of maybe 5 or 6 people that can't be civilised and sensible. For the mods, it's a simple choice, get rid of the embarrassing dross that ruin the forum or the forum will die anyway. Greb, Pardus or whatever he's called isn't the only one, plenty more need
  12. I know better than to lower myself to your imbecilic level.
  13. You don't believe, he does. You can't prove your belief and neither can he. So you resort to childish, petty insults. As for debate, that is usually between intelligent adults with differing views so that's you out of it.
  14. Is it any wonder so many people have left THL? Same old shit ruining the forum with utter, childish shite.
  15. After getting another bike last October (RE Meteor 350) I decided to dedicate lots of time to motocamping and enjoying the best of the Somerset coast and North Devon. Started in March at Porlock, been to various places on Exmoor as well as Lynmouth, Lynton, Doone Valley and Combe Martin. Exploring on the little Meteor is so much better than the car and it's averaging 108 mpg! I started with a 2 man tunnel tent but quickly found that advancing years and low tents don't go well, also when the weather turns you really need somewhere to sit in comfort. So a good look around got me a teep
  16. Had mine for 5 years now, the Tentbox lite, first version. Sleeps 2 easily, been through some rough weather with no problems. I have the annexe bit which is good for storing table, chairs etc and an awning which fits over the rear hatch. I take the ebike on a rack for getting around, Jackery 500 and solar panel for power, bbq and gas rings for cooking. If I go off grid I put a chemical loo in the annexe and a solar shower bag on the roof which just heats up 10 litres of water during the day.
  17. Who lives in Kent? Did you know your county council spent £20,000 last year on free driving lessons and tests for illegal immigrants?
  18. Better than being a fools ball fan.
  19. You're describing a foolsball fan right?
  20. I make my own beer, I made my own BBQ. I don't wear leather. I'm definitely hetero, slim build, not blonde and I ride alone. I don't need to be part of a gang, unlike the foolsball followers with all their little chums, wasting their money instead of doing something sensible with their saturdays and their cash. Being in a draughty stand with pie guzzling beer swilling tribe members in a lake of piss and vomit? No thanks. Most popular game? Well I suppose it beats hen racing and frog hunting but only just.
