    It’s supposedly because Labour is doing away with all the local councils , county councils, etc and each county will only have one unitary council. This isn’t planned until three years time, but it looks like those councils under threat from Reform want to postpone any elections until the changes go through meaning some councillor’s will be in place unchallenged for seven years ! The councils can only ASK for a cancellation of elections, the government minister has to agree with it, but as Labour are forecast for a hiding in the local elections it’s a safe bet they will allow the cancella

    When I retired 21 years ago, I could have gone to live anywhere; I have family in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, Cyprus , the Middle East, but I chose to come home because my aging parents were still alive. Im to old to think about a major relocation now, I did that when I was in my 20’s and don’t regret a minute of it. I fear for the prospects of the young in this country. Cheers.

    Half of the councils that were due to hold local elections in May have cancelled them for at least three years . Councils where the polls say Reform were due to be very successful. Warnings of a gas shortage and possible power outages in the middle of the coldest part of the year. Farmers, right now, circling food distribution centres with tractors threatening to disrupt food supplies. God forbid that pensioners start to die of cold and hunger…… What is happening to my country ? Cheers.

    Starmer has ordered the monitoring of Musks tweets by a Home Office group tracking “extremists”. Theres also talk of them blocking Musks tweets, how they would do that without banning X , I don’t know, but I’m sure Musk will relish the fight. It’ll be like Starmer turning up to a nuclear war armed with a catapult…. Cheers.

    That’s exactly it mate , the Jay report didn’t look into the cover ups and corruption. Hopefully a new targeted inquiry will, but it goes so deep I fear a cover up of the cover ups ! Cheers.

    I despise the Tory’s and Labour equally. I think I’ve made my point, comprehensively, why I’d like an independent inquiry. Have you not read the court transcripts that have come out in the last few days ? Information that had to be dragged out by F.O.I. requests. I know you like to take the opposite view to the general consensus, probably to get a rise, a bite , a wind up, I’ve replied , I think, courteously and honestly, but I think it’s far to serious an affair to be the subject of a wind up, so I’ll bow out now.     As I said, the Jay inquiry barely touched on Pakistani grooming gangs, and it has since come to light that it’s far more widespread than thought when Jay did her inquiry. What I and many more would like is an independent inquiry focused solely on this aspect of child rape and who covered it up. It wouldn’t cost billions, that’s an exaggeration, of course the Jay inquiry was vastly expensive, £200 million and took seven years, but an independent inquiry that’s being asked for now would be far more focused and would be cheaper and quicker, although cost shouldn’t come into it when protectin

    How would an independent inquiry derail the Schools Bill , they are completely separate. Or are you talking about the Jay inquiry which is long finished and her recommendations are finally if belatedly being implemented. The schools bill is to reorganise the education system, nothing to do with grooming gangs. The Jay inquiry was a wide ranging inquiry into child abuse focusing on Saville, Cyril Smith, the Church, the BBC etc and hardly mentioned grooming gangs.     The amendment to the Schools bill was the nuclear option to force the Labour government into granting a national independent inquiry into specifically Pakistani grooming gangs. If Starmer had granted that inquiry the amendment would have been dropped. He refused and put his MP’s on a three line whip meaning anyone who didn’t vote against the amendment would be thrown out of the Labour Party. Now it appears HE didn’t vote against it, he ABSTAINED !     Have you read “The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail , Scotty mate ? I was quite intrigued by it years ago, and the Tom Hanks films are based on it. It basically postulates that the French Morovingian dynasty was the bloodline of Jesus and that the secret society of The Priory de Zion held proof of this.
