  1. I wanted to add something here that I hope Uphill and some others will somewhat agree with. Some really good coyote type stags will never catch a hare. Some of them dont care to actually and some of them just aint capable. They are fast enough for sure but they cant reach like some hare dogs and they cant cut and turn are re-accelerate fast enough out of the corners. Some of them dont even do that well on fox actually but most make a fox look fairly easy. Some of the real big ones though will not be able to do fox but them kind really aint the ones most of us are lookin for. My yella dog
  2. Great post Doc! Coyote speed varys just like fox and hares vary. A good coyote can outrun a good fox by about 3 to 5 mph in my opinion but thats not as important as a few other qualities. First off, you will not usually be able to get as close to a coyote as one would a fox and definately not as close as one could get to a hare so the requirement for exceptional early speed is very important. The second thing is that a coyote has about twice the endurance as a good fox does. The good thing though is that they are easier to catch one caught up to than a fox is cause they just dont have
  3. Might not be able to catch one would be the problem. By the way, Pop meant the grey wolves were that big not the greyhound. LOL! You are right them would be some big ass greyhounds. HAHA! Pops, I am gettin my info from a few guys that see them alot not off the computer. You are right most are that small though but not the adults according to these fellas. It is really not rare to see 150 pound males but yes bigger than that is rare. What does it really matter though cause 120 pounds of wolf is about like 300 pounds of bullcross.
  4. I know some of our greyhounds which are just about like the greyhounds in the UK or Ireland when hunted can run for a good 2 minutes. They have to be raised properly though and hunted and not pampered when growing up. Some fellas use straight up track greys over here and catch loads of jackrabbits and they can move pretty fast. They say that the black tail jacks down in New Mexico and parts of Arizona are some of the fastest "hares" in the world. I know that you can most definately improve a dogs stamina and most definately can improve a dogs recovery time. All that being said a saluki/gr
  5. Here is two more for ya guys that are interested.
  6. Thats funny cause most of the pits in this country cannot even kill a coyote properly and thats a fact. You can ask those who have tried it. Our stags kill way faster and much more effeciently than the bulldogs do. taiking about pits whats with all them little fat hippo things ther calling pits over in the states nearly al my serches on pits in america they have came up .taik about destroying a breed You wont see our real bulldogs on the net.
  7. There never really was a wolfhound though that was bred for our bigger wolves. I cant remember what its called but its something like bergman theory or some shit like that. It talks about how the farther north you get, the bigger shit gets. In this part of the world and in russia anyhow. The biggest wolf ever killed was something like 38 inches at the shoulder and 189 pounds and was killed in the Ukraine. Biggest one taken here was in Alaska and it was 175. Alot of the shit that you read about them only being or 90 pounds and the biggest ones around 120 is a bunch of bullshit and our go
  8. if they can do that a PACK of leggy well muscled thick skinned hard boned highly aggressive dogs in the 100-130# range should be able to stretch a single grey. by pack i mean a group of at least 5 dogs that will not string out & go their own way but stay together & fight together. i firmly believe their are dogs that can kill the average grey solo, but they are far from common maybe 1 in 30,000 within certain breeds of the same size as the grey like boerboels, bullykuttas, dogos & ovtchartkas. the dog that can kill the large wolves are maybe 1 in 100,000. most importantly the dog
  9. I meant yards, not times. I dont even know where that can from. LOL!
  10. Up in parts of Canada they still have some of them older "types" of wolfhounds you speak of and they were rough according to a buddy of mine. Big old 100 pound dogs that stand probably 32 inches or better at the shoulder and they can just lope up on a coyote and pin one down pretty easy. Some say though that they aint fast enough for them out of the dump boxes alot of these guys use cause it has almost become a competition with some gents over here to see whose dog can get to the coyte the fastest. Problem is that alot of these kinds of dogs get their ass handed to them or will just trip th
  11. Here he is on a 30 plus pound male coyote. He caught it within a couple hundred times. Grabbed it by the back left leg and flipped it asshole over appetite and when it quit flippin he had already had the throat and rolled and came up exactly in the position he is standing in and held it right like this until it was over with.
  12. He trips them and when they go to jump again he swings in from the side, throats, and then rolls just like all the other good stags do. Most lurchers couldnt catch them unless they have quite a bit of greyhound in them in my opinion. I dont need to argue with yall, I can show you that my dog will throat them coyotes quickly by himself and not take stick. can you put a couple of pics of your stag up becouse this sounds some dog what weight is your stag There are plenty of picks of him on here right now. He has one mark on his muzzle that you can see at certain angles, no others th

  14. I just looked them up and they say they average between 40 and 55 pounds. Our bigger coyote in the north and into canada weigh the same. The stags up in that country will take these big coyotes and I assure you they pin the head or they dont get fed long.
  15. I aint worried but I like coming on here and dont want anybody to be pissed at us fellas across the pond.
  16. I really need to quit arguing with you guys. I have nothing against any breeds of dogs no matter where they come from. I truely believe that I know what it takes to take coyote consistently. I may be wrong but so far nobody else has came up with a better plan. If you guys want though, anybody is welcome to come over here and put there dogs on them. I will set up the time and will put you right on top of them and will let your dogs attempt to do it from start to finish. If they do it, then great. If they fail, I will show you how it should have been done.
  17. Yes a dog that can shake somethings guts might kill small game but there aint much shakin a coyote really and if they do they are gonna get the shit bit out of em.
  18. This is why Tazi and Taigan work wolves different to the way your Stags do Coyotes. It would be suicide for them to go straight in for the throat. I dont want to be rude but that comment is really ridiculous. I cant believe anybody would type that out. There could be nothing further from the truth. Pinning the throat is about the only way a dog can not get bitten. My stag would pen them 50 pound "wolves" as son as he caught them.
  19. trust me them wolves over here can get over 150 pounds, the scale does not decieve
  20. Them wolves were shot I believe. I do not have wolves near me. It would be very difficult to put a dog on a wolf according to all the coyote hunters up there where they are. They are very secretive and elusive. I dont know much about them really just that they are huge and dangerous.
  21. Catchin them is definately tough cause they can move for sure and have extreme endurance. Literally they have about twice as much endurance as a fox at the same speed. I have theory though that no animal has super great enurance at their top speed but the problem is gettin a coyote to run at their top speed. You have to have a dog that can really cover ground cause you wont get an easy dump or slip on one. They dont hang around long enough to chat. Once you catch one, you must then have courage to throat one and then the strength and endurance to keep it pinned down which aint easy either
  22. Why don't they use Bull x's for Coyotes in the states then? Could it be because they've already got the right tools for the job?? who says they dont it just happens these lads use some thing else Think about it mate, a bull x is probably the best foxing dog out there, but then a coyote is twice the size of a fox... Work it out. what is thare to think about mate if the bullx is the best fox dog out thare then a dont see any reason why thay should not be tried on a 30lb coyote becouse the bullx will still be twice its weight when you think about this a terrier can kill and a terrier wil

  24. Good bullcrosses can and will dispatch coyotes but it still usually takes two of them but the problem is that it would be an extremely rare one that could ever catch a coyote.
  25. I was just having fun with the aulant guys. I dont care what kind of cross works for anybody. I like hunting dogs, period. Any cross that works for you and what you do is alright by me.
