  1. You are gonna have to dumb it down a little more for me. I have no idea what parp means. Remember I am just a dumbass american across the pond.
  2. The collars are tracking collars and shocking collars.
  3. Grace is something else thats for sure. One of the best things about her is this. You will not know she is around when you are sittin out back of Scotts drinkin a cold one or sittin in bear camp drinkin a cold one. She is calm as could be and never makes a sound nor moves a muscle until its go time. She just lounges around like she is half dead until Scott tells her to do something and then she does it right now and never questions a bit.
  4. UphillDoc will be on here in a bit I assume and if he will send me some photos of lions, I will put them up for him. You would think somebody that helps operate on folks all day would be sharp enough to put a pic on an internet message board but he aint. HAHA! Anyhow, he has a ton of big game photos with his lurcher gyp in them. He also has a another lurcher type dog that will be doin it all real soon. He has already started him on hare and will be movin him onto coyotes, coon, lion, and bear later this year. He got him from a fella near more sort of. He is half staghound and half runn
  5. One more thing needs to be added. These guys let almost every bear they tree or bay up go if they can. Its just when all your dogs are bayed up tight in a cave, there aint a whole lot you can do but hurry your ass up and get in there and kill the bear before all of your dogs are dead and possibly even you. It takes a special person to crawl into a dark cave with a big black bear. Give it a whirl once ooty, see if you got the sand.
  6. They are free when they are struck and they are free when they are being ran and they are free when they choose to bay up. And yes, a many a dog gets killed day after day here running and baying and treeing bear. Just so you know though there have also been quite a few bear over here stretched and killed by a pack of rough dogs. Of course these are mostly small bear and it is a very rare occasion. We just thought that some might like to see just how versatile these lurchers can be over here too. Folks run them on rabbits, hares, fox, coyote, even deer but you are not supposed to. They ru
  7. Scott aint on here yet but he will let you in on more of it. I know that they bayed that particular bear up in a cave and Scott went in and shot it point blank but you need to wait for him to tell the whole story. I know this much, Grace is a little bit on crazy side for bear but she aint got killed yet so maybe she is learning.
  8. Hey gents, this is a pic of my buddy's lurcher. She is a bullcross and she is a very nice dog. He hunts her on just about anything you can imagine. I went out to Idaho bear huntin with him this past June and she is a very nice dog. Anybody would be proud to own her. I will let him tell the story about this particular hunt and any other hunts he wants to talk about. She is the yellow dog mouthin the bear.
  9. I just picked up my littermate to these pups last night. She doesnt show any of the dale or pit in her at all. Very racey lookin and acts as good as any pup I have ever seen. She is smart as a whip and she is gonna be the ticket for me hopefully anyway. Only time will tell and it will tell. For her sake I hope she does her job.
  10. If I was in your shoes I would just use a cold blood grey but I aint sure if yall got them kind of dogs over there.
  11. Thats funny right there. I was thinkin the same thing when I seen that pic. HAHAHA!
  12. I have seen quite a few of them and its one of the best dog mags you can get in my opinion.
  13. By the way, that man in your avatar looks like he is all man. I read where you was talkin bout him the other day but never commented but he is a beast of a man for sure.
  14. I agree that the better all arounder would be what you said but wouldnt the deerhoundxsaluki make them almost to big and tall for good pic ups on hare. Just learning so dont think I am gettin pissy, just wonder thats all.
  15. I just wonder what it would be good for besides deer of some sort. Of course I know nothing about lamping so maybe you could lamp with it. I dont know really. Here where I live I dont think they would be good for much. Not enough speed for anything here.
  16. Yes, he is a foxhound type. Supposed to be bred from some old Irish lines called Julys. He is the first one that I owned so I called him July, sounded fittin. Anyhow, he is out of a line of shaggy dogs that an old man bred named Jay Black. His daddy is out of Kenny Williams Pluto dog. Now that probably dont mean shit to most but maybe some will know. Pluto is out by Stumps Lewis who is supposed to throw a ton of speed and I think its most likely the case. I like these Julys pretty damn good actually. I have messed with some now and they are the ticket for me for the most part. I have
  17. Ya, we will talk some time. I hear ya on the gas money deal.
  18. This aint exactly the kind of running dog yall have but I still wanted to show ya a pic of one of my dogs. This is my July pup. He is 10 months old now and he is doing pretty good. Been in on a couple of coyote catches with the older dogs. Been tryin not to get him whipped out and so far so good. He fights pretty hard for a pup I think. I cant wait til this winter when he is a little older and I can run him during the day on snow and see really what he is made of. I have high hopes for him though.
  19. It will work. I dont know the percentages yet and that will be trial and error. You will just have to keep moving forward in the direction you need to go. It will work though. When you put Grace under one of these Julys, you will have exactly what you are lookin for but you might have to alter here and there depending on what you need but there is no doubt in my mind it will work. That Gus pup of course will be there too and should add right nicely to the mix.
  20. "like a foxhound only faster" You gotta love that.
  21. Kye, I was not tryin to say that the cross was a stag at all. An American Stag is unlike any other type of cross you can imagine. It took years and years to develop it. They have some bull in them of course and many other types and breeds. I was just tryin to draw some type of similiar comparison. We have sort of had this discussion before. You were tryin to tell me to use stags in the way I hunt coyotes and I explained to you that because of the fact that I free cast that it really wouldnt work to awful well. I am gonna run some stag crosses though. Truthfully though right now I dont
  22. Right on, I agree. I guess thats what has always confused me too. I cannot see the need for anything over there that needs any bull blood or deerhound type blood. I would think that the greyhound, whippet, saluki, and something like their collie dogs would be all they would need. Our stags can pick a fox up like a wet rag and shake it loose while on the next run have one hell of a time with a coyote. If we didnt have coyotes I would never see the need for a stag type dog but the problem is, thats about all we got and them sumbitches are rough for real. Of course I am a dreamer for the mo
  23. CP read it with an american accent, it works for me!!!!! Spot on mate. LOL! How's that?
  24. HAHAHA! Sorry bout that. All I was tryin to say was that it might work well for a fella providing the parents in the cross aint some AKC shit eaters. LOL! Hope thats easire for a guy to understand. You oughta seen me strain when I first come over here a few years ago. Hell, I dont know whether I was a foot or horseback. I couldnt understand a damn thing yall was sayin. LOL! Shit, then I started pickin it up and typin out yalls jargon on some of the USA sights and crackin people up. I love this site though cause most of the guys on here seem to know about dogs even if they aint the ki
  25. Of course I dont know a whole hell of alot about how yall do your work with lurchers and what not but I just cant see why that the cross would not be good at about anything providing they were out of a good stock of hard workin dogs. To me for an all arounder, in my country, I wouldnt want anything but that. We have dogs kind of like that over here but we just call em stags. Doubt they got much Saluki really in them but they got a shot of just about whatever makes it work and they have the build and what not about like that cross would have, I would guess.
