Don’t vote myself, they’re all liars out for themselves wouldn’t want to give support to any of them
-
I’m the same, I try to spend as little time working as i possibly can, f**k working your life away to make someone else money & pay a high percentage of the rest to the government.
-
Yep that’s right, if people look after their dogs & do a few litters so they don’t have to drag themselves to a shit job every day then fair play to them. Theres a lot more to life than work, society has been brainwashed in to thinking unless you have a tax paying job you’re a waste of space but that’s down to politicians, they want us all out working our fingers to the bone, paying huge amounts of tax so they can sit on their arse in their 2nd home & claim their full life on expenses. Then with any luck you'll die before pension age and they get to keep all your NI contributions

Saw that yesterday, not a good video.

Totally agree with you, big difference between breeders & puppy farmers, the media would have you believe that every frenchie, cockapoo, pug etc is bred on a horrible puppy farm but that’s only because there’s a huge market the government isn’t making any money off, bottom line they’re not concerned about animal welfare they only want their taxes. KC reg doesn’t ensure quality either far from it, if you look on sites like pets 4 homes there’s litters of pet dogs on there that look immaculate, better cared for than most lurcher litters I’ve seen on here so it’s not as black and white a

If someone breeds a few litters a year of pet dogs like frenchies or something, and this allows them to not work, and spend all their time with their family & dogs, does this make them lazy?
-
Reckon if your pals are keen dog lads & the bitch is a good one that they’ve seen run they’d take a pup. Plus you never HAVE to sell something, you’ve always got a choice, people with lurchers often make out it’s the only option but in reality just want a few quid, my mates got a litter of 9 on the ground at the moment no money changing hands for any of them, the lad with the stud didn’t take a penny either

It’s only since this coronavirus outbreak the prices have gone up, not sure why don’t think there’s really a reason. Theres a lot of new crossbreeds appearing, not just your original cockapoo or labradoodle, which are basically their own breed now. Working dogs should be gifted between mates, but pet dogs who really cares, I can’t get my head round the outrage, if you don’t want to pay big money for a dog just don’t buy one. As long as these dogs aren’t entering the working gene pool what’s the problem.

To be fair at least people knew what they were getting from Hancock, they knew the parents weren’t worked and he was honest about how the pups were bred. The worst ones are the men that rip lads off & tell lies about dogs that never miss, or sell pups with fake breeding.
-
That’s what I mean only lads I could really trust, i don’t buy in to all that theory if someone spends a good amount on a pup they’re guaranteed to look after it, someone can spend a grand and treat the dog like pure shit or sell it straight on for £1500. Still stand by that though I’d rather pet home than sell to dog lads I didn’t know cause most of them couldn’t keep white mice.
-
I’d sort mates out & ask lads I trust if they’ve got any close mates needing a pup, failing that I’d place them in pet homes, I definitely wouldn’t advertise them and send them away to lads I didn’t know for a few quid.
-
Don’t know why people sell lurchers anyway tbh, id just want proper homes for them, there’s other ways to make money but we’re all different I suppose
-
They’re the same as any other quarry species, your opinion on them will depend on where you run them. On a nice rolling moor that’s relatively flat they’ll be wiped out easy, but on steep mountain sides with lots of rocks and peat hags they take a lot more catching. As everyone will know there’s places that brown hares fold easy as well, and just because somethings not a challenge doesn’t mean it can’t be good fun, a day up in the mountains watching the white hares burst out the heather at your feet, followed by a quick exciting run is hard to beat. Ive seen dogs that run well on fla

Both pups doing adult foxes single handed at a year old? Honestly that’s good going if that’s the case

Young dog I’ve got at the moment was gifted, getting a pup gifted off the same lad next month, way it should be between mates, but on the other hand all the expensive lurchers nobody’s forcing you to buy one so best just ignored
-
They’re a sub species of the mountain hare
-
We’d already get f****d for killing hares, we got thrown under the bus a long time ago. Plus dog lads don’t go out expecting to get caught, if we were worried about that we wouldn’t do it. Its a good thing because hopefully we won’t have to walk a moor for 3 hours just to see 1 white dot bobbing away in the distance.
-
I understand other people’s viewpoints, but it doesn’t necessarily mean I’ll agree with them or accept them as fact. I’ve worked on shooting estates, lowland & upland, got mates still in the business but when it comes to mountain hares & their management I’ve got my own opinions and that’s what this thread is about
-
Said it before I’m not anti shooting, i just say what I’ve seen, if people disagree that’s fair enough.
-
Think it’s more likely the fact that you’re a keeper so won’t accept any criticism about the shooting industry, because if it collapses you’re f****d.
-
‘Could not be tolerated from a financial viewpoint’ You’ve hit the nail on the head there, it ALWAYS comes back to money in the end, in some way or another. If animals like the hare could not survive in a wild landscape, how did they survive before keepers came along with their guns and traps? We’re in the situation we’re in now, because men have twisted & altered the landscape to maximise profit.
-
Can honestly say I’ve never caught a white hare covered in ticks, all that about culling consistent numbers is a load of shit as well. The whole landscape is managed solely to benefit grouse, and if the hares carry ticks then why would they want a good population on their moor? Food for the raptors is the only reason but they don’t want them either, they kill grouse, raid nests, ruin drives on shoot days. The whole conservation thing is getting a bit far fetched now anyone with half a brain can see that.
-
Always best to get them off, the amount of pressure on that area when they’re running will nearly always open scar tissue back up again
-
No not me, last thing I want to do this time of year is run dogs ?
