  1. Maltenby, you did as any other dogman or dogwoman (does that sound ok ladies) would, good on ya, if she doesn't come back, so be it, no over reaction from you, you know dogs, stick to your guns.
  2. Love the second pic of the badger, great stuff.
  3. Cheers mate, still feel shiity though, there was a good stag there too, so will be looking out for him. What are those little blokes like to eat?
  4. Top class stuff mate, good to see you using the head shot, you are obviously confident in your skills. I shot this red on some new land, i was a bit dissapointed in myself for taking him as I wasa only after some venison, it was on last light and I couldn't see his little antlers, the owners want everything in the plantation shot though.
  5. Kye that would have to be the best post I have read here in a while. What you have said about the finding ability has answered something I have been asking myself for years, 'the drive to make contact with the quarry'. I have found straight Bulls to 'seem' to have brilliant noses , but I agree, I think it is the drive that gives them the 'nose'. Great post for sure. You back online Stab's?
  6. Lurchergirl there was obviously 1 that your fending off didn't work on.
  7. Queens birthday holiday tomorrow.
  8. A lot of tactical shooters are using them and are saying that they are a lot faster to range with, never been really keen on mil dots myself, I feel my confident knowing the capabilities of my rifle. On a side note a lot of the lads in The Ghan are using laser rangefinders to get the distance to target, it is pure and simply a lot faster.
  9. MH it isn't about a Dogo versus a boar , it is hunting not a fight, the dog secures the boar for the hunter and it is dispatched humanely and ethically, I have a little experience in boar hunting and it is not from youtube, that video is NOT hunting and hopefully the link will be removed as it is just plain wrong, it maybe acceptable in Argentina but not in most other places, thank f#ck the Paras showed up at Goose Green.
  10. Well you got a laugh out of me mate, thats a cracker.
  11. That pup is a cracker LG, great to see your children out enjoying their hunting dogs.
  12. Had an uncle try it on himself when I was a kid, fark it was funny, scorched just about everything.
  13. Shadow don't be dissillusioned by the Argentinean hype, an athletic Pit would run absolute rings around a Dogo in a stamina contest, I am not having a go at the Dogo they were bred with the right crosses but in reality they are just another boof headed pigdog, nothing bad and nothing special. Some of the vids that get around show 5 or 6 Dogo's on a boar, this is rubbish, not to mention unsporting, most good pigdogs should be able to handle boar 1 or perhaps 2 out with the big fellas. The catch dog competition you here about involves a boar and a dog in a pen, if they are such great runners why
  14. i have seen dogo v puma 1x1 and the dogo kill the puma in 9 mins blood all over the place but hard dog i no som 1 in england that has 1 Just my opinion but for a hunter (not you, the owner) to watch their dog take 9 minutes to kill a puma isn't hunting and smacks of cruelty............... the puma was a sheep killer so they set trap for it then let the dog do its job A bullet would be humane and quick. Putting a dog on it for 9 minutes brutalises the hunter and quarry and gives the dog needless stick. Different cultures I guess but not my cup of tea, I like to kill as quick and
  15. Dogo mate, there is absolutely no comparison, wouldn't use an Ambull full stop, they were never like the Dogo.
  16. G'day Logic, try Horus Vision in the States, have heard good things about their reticules. www.horusvision.com/rs-hawk
  17. but the 243 is an exelent cal but i cant stand 270. I would go for the 243/6.5x55 over the 270 the 243 (6mm) is a great accurate round with some great bullet choice if you load it as is 6.5. Good advice, I have always had .270's and after speaking with V-max I was going to go to a 6.5x55, the only reason I didn't was I couldn't get it in a Rem 700 nor the .260 Rem which ballistically is very similar to the 6.5. Now I take these blokes dislike for the .270 is the recoil which can be a bit much, shot after shot on the range, the Rem 700 SPS I bought in .270 has an awesome recoil pad and
  18. I have been looking for a Gundog to be used mainly on deer, know I am not new to dogs, so have done a lot of research into the different HPR breeds so as to get exactly what is needed for the job. I really wanted a GWP and have looked into them quiet extensively and have now decided to go with a GSP as for me it is the better option, looked at some great dogs today that are worked on pheasant and quail, but obviously will work any game. My decision is backed up by years of hunting dog experience and if you are interested why I went for the GSP pm me as some may take offence at what I will sa

Stiffmeister the main plus of being Infantry is that the hot women prefer you over an engineer, our weapons are bigger.
  20. I agree with the last post, nothing wrong with a .243's accuracy, not being smart, but how experienced are you with centrefire rifles, a .270 probably isn't the best calibre to start out with, for your purposes anything from .222 up would be fine, .270 is a lot of firearm. Great pic Martin.

Yeah, good on you mongrel gutz, I wouldn't have trouble getting into your sister-in-laws (plural) knickers though. The lad can choose what he wants mate, but it would be a proud day to see him get his skippy badge and serve under Deano, at this stage he wants to be a sniper, so will just encourage this, you know what he's like, loves all the secret squirrel shit. The Aust. boys mate are protected by our government, they keep them out of harms way as much as possible, all this stems from Vietnam. I missed all that stuff this week, so not sure what units where making the comments, but yo
  22. Let the dog or other dogs lick it, believe it or not, a dogs saliva has healing properties for themselves.

CHEERS MATE, Infantry for 9 yrs loved it ..... teaches you a thing or two.(bloody remfs) they are all there to support the bods at the sharp end i.e. grunts as for hunting i was lucky enough to have an officer in charge of our platoon with two Lurchers say no more also when posted to Germany managed to do my "Jagdshein" or hunting permit that was the gateway in that country done a fair bit of stalking up in scotland for part of the sniper course Its what you make it.... sure basic is a bitch but past that it's ok and you will never meet a better bunch of blokes. fieldcraft , escape a
