  1. Yes. the pochard was a beautiful drake. Just waiting on the roast veg then it will be tea. Regards, Ian.
  2. A friend and myself have been feeding a small pond (only 20yds x 35 yds) on a farm where we go ferreting. On Monday we managed 5 mallard and a Pochard, and saw many more including a few Teal. Another small pond only a mile away had lots of mallard on it the other morning when I was past. Are Pochard common on small inland ponds/lakes? Regards, Ian.
  3. Mine also reads a foot over the actual depth of the dig. All good news as far as I'm concerned. Sometimes a buff battery can give poor readings and signal. Does it beep more slowly than before? Regards, Ian.
  4. |It's the same as the course fishing season. Regards, Ian.
  5. Out with Malton beagles on Saturday. Does anyone know what time Zetland hunt is meeting at Aldbrough St John on Friday? Regards, Ian.
  6. Get the x member with the extensions. Usually take about a day to cut out the old and weld in the new. Regards, Ian.

    boxing day

I'm not going out Boxing day but will be out with the beagles around Malton on Saturday. Ian.
  8. I bought some the same from E-bay a few weeks back. They are a bit light when it's windy but have caught a few rabbits. The jury is still out. Regards, Ian.
  9. I've been on the register for about 3 years now. I've had 1 very good permission from it and lots of enquiries from people that have seen the stickers in the Land Rover. The last time was in some services on the M1 when a guy from the New Forest was after some rabbits clearing. Someone from down that way may have got lucky. There is a good community of guys on the forum too, there is usually a meet up somewhere in the country. Regards, Ian.
  10. Nice work Brimmer, there must be plenty about for a 40+ bag. Did you net most of them? Regards, Ian.
  11. How good is the signal when you check it in the house? I would presume you've put new batteries in it. I've found that weak batteries can give a poor signal when underground. Regards, Ian.
  12. I hope you've got plenty of money spare. http://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/produc...ge+BDC+3-12x56T
  13. There is a big lake in the middle of the race course, but I would'nt have thought that would it. It's open for water sports and fishing most of the year. It could be on the river, or just some random farmer he knows. Lots of canadas over me yesterday, coming from Catterick Village area towards Masham. Most too high for a shot or fly over when the gun was in the truck. Regards, Ian.
  14. Hi Gaz, AA S410 is always worth a look. Regards, Ian.
  15. Check out your local gun shops for a used AA S410. Mine cost me £250. The only problem I've had was a leaking filler that cost pence to fix. A very accurate rifle for the money. Best £250 I've ever spent. Regards, Ian.
  16. Nice work DDD, always good to be out when the sun is shining. As far as feeding the ferrets pre hunt goes for me I just feed as normal, making sure they have enough food to see them until morning. One or two of my ferrets will sometimes lay up even when they have full bellies. They had a couple of kills under ground yesterday but surfaced again soon after without having a feed. PM your location in North Yorkshire to me and I maybe able to take you to some of my permissions for a day out with the ferrets. Regards, Ian.
  17. Are the wheels 15 or 16 inch? Regards, Ian.
  18. Is anybody using this type of trap? And if so how are you finding them? I'm looking to start trapping the squirrels/rats/stoats on my permissions to give the wild pheasants a better chance of raising some young. Any trapping advice will be gratefully recieved. Regards, Ian.
  19. I agree Mark, I've heard and read plenty of bad reports on this rifle, but mainly on the early models I think. If it's working well for you why worry. I assume it's guarenteed for 12 months. regards, Ian.
  20. Air arms field or JSB exact will be good through your gun. Regards, Ian.
  21. I'm with Richie, I only put ferrets to ground with collars. This can prove expensive but if you care about your ferrets it's worth it. I'm up to 5 mk3 collars now, and more required when funds allow. Regards, Ian.
  22. JSB exacts for me. They are available in slightly different sizes from 4.51 to 4.53 I think. They are a very popular FT and HFT pellet. AA fields are almost the exact same pellet. There used to be a small tool for reshaping pellets but i'm not sure where you would get one now. As has been said before try a few different makes and see what suits best. Regards, Ian.
  23. You would be close to a full set up including bottle and gauge for £600. Buy the best scope you can afford, look for around x14 mag max for 12 lb ft air rifle. Regards, Ian.
  24. Hi Cubby, why are you stopping now? I intend to go on for at least another month yet. Regards, Ian.
  25. There are various laws concerning shooting birds at night wether they be Game Birds or vermin species. Suffice to say there are plenty of legal ways to cover just about all your night shooting. The important wording is LAMPING (artficial light from just about any source). Lamping is NOT allowed for almost everything in the bird world. Birds can only be shot with artificial light in or on a man made structure, ie buildings, and that includes NV gear. But you shouldn't be shooting pheasants with an air rifle anyway. They are not reguarded as suitable quarry and can be a fast way
