  1. Some breeding that . I used to talk to stick hutcheson about cindy. Our double bred romeo pups just turned 12 month . Early signs are real good
  2. Aye Ron nae bother . Look back , see where the comments started . Or are you too biased . Theres always 3 sides . Your , mine and the truth . As for a Celtic supporter. Yes . Scottish, yes and proud of it . And proud of my ancestry also . I will keep your advice to mind .
  3. You can go on all you want . My family lost kin to the black and tans . Remember them ? . Let's leave it at that. Or do you really me to go on about this too . Let sleeping dogs be . I merely reacted to your comment
  4. Same old chat at start of every season. RHVD is the rabbits biggest threat . But hammering them in places where numbers are so low really does not make sense. I've said many times , what are folk not catching and releasing in areas devoid of rabbits . I have 6 areas local to me that had absolutely no rabbits for 12 year . About 9 year back I started dropping 4/5 rabbits each time I went ferreting. I learned that around horse paddocks and house were the places. Right next to short grazing fields . Nearly 10 years on I still go round 5 of the 6 places I released them. They are doing quite w
  5. You 2 going out soon ?? Surely not till after November
  6. Agree with all that . Was just saying them deer ruin many a day for me . They ain't my quarry. But accidents do happen, unfortunately. A truly good dog is to be worked hard with its owner working just as hard conditioning and feeding it proper. And yes there are very few men I go out with . Always been the same
  7. This dog was from castlemilk buddy . Blue rough .
  8. Them bloody deer ruin a good coursing dog. And a good day out . Hate the things .
  9. To me it's fairly simple. Rear a greyhound and run it , youd be lucky to hammer it and get to 3rd season in a sound condition. A pure saluki, totally different. Imo . Certain breeds are more robust. But in this game where we are trying to breed the best attribute from various breeds , one litter mate can throw steadier than its sibling. Imho , breed and style along with ground worked is the main factors.
  10. That's a fair comment. But I'd bet you wouldn't run it at 12 month in January, same way you would run a seasoned dog .?
  11. Hounds looking well brother. No coursing through the site lately ??
  12. Buddy , I'm up in castlemilk. Where is it you plan to work your terrier and possible small lurcher . Now I know theres good rat populations at the back of the viridor site and along the railway to rutherglen where there are some rabbits in the industrial estates . But let me advise you . IF your terrier takes to a working life . It wont make old bones around your estate . The fox problem as you know is of plague proportions. Your dog WILL come across them . Between the busy roads and railway. You wont have a dog long . I was treating for rats recently at toryglen . I couldn't let my fell te
  13. Do you stay near the glencairn young yin ?
  14. Was chance not around 1/4 deerhound. I haven't heard a man say anything other than she was a truly great bitch on fen or field ?
  15. In the original post, the pup is very coo hocked. However, he looks all over the place in his growth . And pictures can make things look worse . A little video of him walking and playing might give lads with a bit of experience of this a better advantage to pass comment,. Personally I'd stick to short regular walks and a bit of free running, as for the feeding . If hes on too much protein, it might not be doing him favours as hes growing too fast . So I will go against the grain with advice and if it was me I'd stick with a very good complete puppy diet for next 5 months with a good chicke
  16. Have a 3 year old fell terrier. Great recall. Loves bushing , very quick and has really opened my eyes to this type. And it has crossed me and a friends thoughts of how hed go over a non ped whippet. But I hear it's been tried and aren't what they should be
  17. I think back in the day a lot of places where there was double fences etc , the hares were easier. The hares didnt have to out run the dog but rather use the obstacles to evade capture. This type of land was normally pasture land . And as such is easier to rum and turn on . A very good dog could bully the hare away from the bad fences and the races were usually at the minute, minute and half . Whereas where mchull runs it's a test of endurance. Yes a good dog can kill anywhere . But bring a fen dog up to most places in Scotland that's never been taught the wire . You will blank . Take a t
