  1. Pups turned out great, just small for me and my game I was hunting. Those dogs were "A" rated bushing dogs they would be perfect for what your talking about. The Patt and Whipp Stock used were top shelf so i'm sure that helped.
  2. Chilly -years ago my friend in the states bred them. The 1st breeding was W over PDT. The 1/2 Xs were so intense that they were hard to handle and hunt. When I went with this 1 particular female she seemed to have mutable personality’s lol. She would force herself down a hole and then back out and be looking for the other sight hounds to chase. She would absolutely put here mouth on any fur what so ever. My friend then bred her to another whippet and then he had some dogs that stayed away from earths for the most part and covered ground looking for fur like a vacuum. One male I hunted with â
  3. It’s quite obvious that you have never been raided and had a full body and cavity search… Anyway here's mine loves bows in her hair and peanut butter.
  4. I was thinking the same thing....I was going to to ask him show yours first lol.
  5. The quarry dictates the dog if your a hunter and really serious about taking game. Like these guys that take 4lb test and go shark fishing, cool but not serious. Hares is your quarry , hare dog. Big and toothy is your game well get a sighthound bred for it. Big movment over her in the states for the fastest coyote dog so I've been seeing 3/4 -7/8 hot bloods.....I think they forgot what happens when they catch the coyote of they have 8 dogs on it so it dont matter anyway. I dont always but I try to live by the dog has to support its self and you , thats the acid test then you cant go wrong.
  6. Thats about as hard as it gets for a sight hound......
  7. Remember is just a color......He was a flashy SOB but absoluty the worse lurcher I ever owned.
  8. this is my 3/4 greyhound collie 11mths old I think 3/4 merle grey collies are the best looking combo of a lurcher one could wish for! Being pretty don't help them catch.........unless your hunting these. Jonny where do they sell them? I would like to hang a few around the house .
  9. I'm thinking 27-28 ats ballpark 80lbs. Anything less than that he wont be making the team.
  10. Hounds were hunted hard the day before and had treed two bears. They just seemed never get closer than 30 seconds behind.
  11. some are as hard as nails, and some not. A sheperd by me who used to have 1 collie who would bite you if you ever went to his place, this fecker would take you on , none of this crap from behind . And another dog he had there was ok with you quite friendly, you just carnt work them out at times. All my 1x colliegrey Bryn would do, is want to play football with you. That ACD and Kelpie stuff is the "back door" type dogs lol!
  12. Mistake I ment to say "uphill's T" not Tor. Yes there is some confusion as to whats what and the term gets turned around when talking to people abroad as the 1st Stag Hound was a foxhound type animal. Stag Hound or "Stag" is a a AMerican term for a larg sighthound smooth, broken or rough used for run, catch and kill coyotes and some other stuff lol. Grey, WH, DH, Borzoi, Saluki, Bull, Collie Hound its all been put in at one time or another and now it is its own strain now with breeders tweeking it here and there.
  13. New pup I'm bringing on. 1/8 bull 7/8 Stag Out of Uphill's Tor and a Stag from JW that Uphill has called Lazer. Both parents have allot of coyotes last season.-Stunt
  14. Saw this lil'shit today and it made me think about this thread. He is called a "Fuzzy" a cow dog here in the western states used on cattle. He belongs to a rancher that we stopped by today as we were out running coyotes with the Stags. I know he looks like a toy but he isnt....He can move a rough cow around. I saw several today on a few ranches and I had forgot all about them.-STUNT P.S. 22-25" ATS this dude was around 45-50lbs hard condition.
  15. THe dogs live with mules so its like 2nd nature. In the mountains out in the plains any where.
  16. You aint kidding IDE ha ha I think they 'll hate it here.
  17. He should be ready in the fall, 40lb. now about 10 months. He'll help the Stags out with the coyotes if they get tight.
  18. My mule and his BFF I use for hunting left place last night , found then this morning about 5 miles away. Two 600lb-900lb dogs lol! Put her on a leash and he follows like a good hubby.
  19. A dog that wants to fcuk a rabbit will catch one ahead of others......breed him immeaditly!
  20. StaffR- That was some wreck whew! Keeping those Vets summer homes tip top lol! Good luck with the rehab I hope she recovers well for ya.
  21. Johnny- When out in big spaces here anyway they use a BC type dog but "Cattle Bred" a bigger rougher, harder upstairs in the brain type collie. In the pens ,corrals around the ranch I see allot of ACD's or Kelpies. One thing I noticed allot of these cowdogs have been bred worker to worker as they dont care what color, breed ect as long as its working. My neighbor has a BC X Rotty that he uses for work and catching cows lol. Bird I had a ACD and Kelpies pure and X's the ACD as he got older got real sharp with people. He was one tough customer boy , if you turned your back he'd let ya know
  22. It was a very popular breed, in the 60s/ 70s Hill collie bitch with a champion coursing greyhound, that was the best way, out of litter say 7 pups you may get 3 good decent dogs, for all round, edible the rest would make good rabbit dogs, the old fashioned way, hunt a field, do the job and carry back to hand, that coursing grey, back in those times was a well balanced dog, 26" / 27" weight about 65 to 70lb he had the pace to get up to his quarry, and could and stamina to go with,it, sadly those dogs have disappeared, AND THE HILL COLLIE IS NOT AS HARD A DOG AS THEY WERE THEN. dogs in the 50s/
  23. Sound advice they have to stay open. Wash well and if its really bad i use this stuff- http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&q=granulex&rlz=1R2ADFA_enUS430&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1259&bih=819&wrapid=tlif130702691844410&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=16877487939402660471&sa=X&ei=8aXnTfeHO4TAsAPw_sXnDQ&ved=0CDMQ8wIwAQ# Its a miracle worker really. I put a stag hound back together that had been worked over by my foxhounds and she was in bad shape. Note when using this stuff it will make the wound look worse that it did , just let
