No mate I was hoping you’d say all dogs as I don’t really keep dogs lol. Want to breed my bitch really but I keep coming back to look at these pups. Much difference between the two bitches ?

Spend an hour in the company of some of the extremist ALF folk and you know they are for real. Once upon a time I spent a fair bit of time around extremely militant environmentalist protesters, and plenty of them are happy for a scrap - they are just marginalised young men, with little purpose, who need a family and a cause ....... their only aim in life is to be “on the front lines fighting them”, whoever ‘them’ is. Re the idiots with dogs, sadly most of them come from certain sections of society around here.

I think you'd have to be pretty mental to go in hard at people around here. It would just lead to constant agro. Best bet is just to seal your borders, and have a bit of a presence and hope they go elsewhere. Its just part of life around this part of the world. The worst bit of it is that its made people who are like us, with running dogs a target, no matter if you are a knob or not. Unless you are very lucky to have an in, you arent going to get permission, and even if they know you, they get a bit paranoid about the hassle from anyone else. You go stand in a field around here with a ru

One of my pet hates is a bully. When you’re the one in the wrong, to resort to threats of violence - makes you a true scum bag. The keepers, farmers and land owners around here don’t have an issue with hunting or running dogs - they have an issue with how it’s done. One said to me lately - they are just scum, the lowest of the low and deserve nothing but contempt. Same bloke has no issue with me running on his ground.
-
Just to add - on the occasions we find lads doing it the ok way, we just smile, wave and drive on. Or have a quick chat and tell them where they can go and not go if they want no hassle. They always look confused as f**k, when the farmer rocks up in his truck and starts asking about their dogs and how they bred haha.

I live in the south east and I farm. Any sympathy I had had been rapidly removed over last few years. Perfect example the other night - phone call about sheep on the road at an off lying bit of land. Big bit of ground with three groups of sheep up there behind electric, totalling about 1300 head of stock. But lots and lots of area that the sheep weren’t running on. Anyway, sheep on road so we go up at night to see why. Some bunch of heros have gone lamping hares, ideal, now the issue isn’t the hares - it’s the fact they have gone around each set of sheep first and stolen the battery

How to find fox earths
SheepChaser replied to SportingWhippetdog's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Don’t take this the wrong way, as I’ve done similar and I think you’re a decent bloke. But that kind of chat with some of the farmers I know and they’d just think you were a massive bell end. Ivr been caught similar on land I wasn’t meant to pre ban and just said, look, dogs lined a fox to here and I’m killing this fox as it’s killing lambs in area etc. Just unfortunate it’s ended up on your patch, sorry if it’s a bother. And usually they just let you crack on. -

Here’s a question for you ........

This is classic THL. Ive never been to your country, never hunted your quarry or your land. But you’re wrong, your dogs are wrong and I could do it better. -

I expect not ..... but you can tell the lads an expert lol -
No ...... you miss my point. Some places you aren’t digging that dog, dead or alive. Im not really a digging man at all. But all I’m saying is those little dogs that will go in but not stay forever DO have their place for some people on certain types of land.
-
Got to love THL with its tiny, narrow world views, and repeated arguments lol. Sometimes a dog that stays till dug, aint ever coming out.

Fancy it sexy? -
If you were a man, mid thirties, fairly obsessed with Lurchers and their various forms of hunting, and you were potentially have the opportunity of some time and some money, due to having an early midlife crises and selling your buisness etc Where would you go for a great hunting holiday / Experiance? Im leaning toward the states. I’d love to see some coyotes run, lamp some coins, dig a few bits, hunt some pigs etc and would really like to go see the big Loomis coyote dog sale if it’s still on ......

Here’s a question for you lads - with regard to your hunting seasons etc. When is the best time of year to be a hunting man in your country? -
Aye we had a bit of fun.

Been dealing with lambing outside in storm Denis all day. Finally got an hour out with the dogs before dark. Had an action packed hour to be fair.

Some dogs can just naturally hunt and will cast out well. There’s a member on here who has a hell of a hill dog, not a very big bitch, but she is unreal for hunting and finding.
