I,m in Bristol and it's blowing quite nicely here, went into wickes this morning and when I came out there was a massive tree down across the carpark with about half a dozen cars trapped under it, I was going to check my trail cameras today but think it probably wise to stay out the woods with the amount of debris flying around and trees coming down ,heard on the radio a while ago that part of the city centre is closed after someone got hit by a roof tile this morning so having a day in doing odd jobs role on Spring
  3. I have a mate I fish And shoot catty,s with he can't aim for shit were as I am a bit of an aimer,we are like chalk and cheese but on the whole he is just as successful as me and hits the target with as much regularity as anyone, he can't tell you how he does it and his forks are horrible to me, but he can't stand mine either, and struggles to even hold it, so you just have to accept that we are all different, and what works for you may not work for others but as long as your enjoying yourself, it's a winner
  4. the original tree fork was about 21/2" fat so I sanded one side of it flat on a belt sander upside down in a vice, when there was a big enough flat area to lay the ally one on, I drew round it and cut it out with a jigsaw, then I sanded the shape into it with a dremmel using the large and small sanding drums that they use, you just got to keep holding it then sanding off any bits that don't feel right, when it's comfortable in the hand give it a good final sanding with finer grades of paper by hand,
  5. mate get on it, I was a bit like yourself for many years, I,ve always had a catty for over forty years but it was always standard hazel fork square or Barnett elastic and a boot tongue, it was only when I started using the Internet a few years ago that I realised just what improvements and advances there had been in materials, it was the American slingshot sites that first opened my eyes, but there are now a few lads bringing that to England and the resurgence is going strong, you can now actively hunt with a catty as apposed to just lamping birds of perches, I think it's great, welcome aboar
  6. Just put new battery,s and a sim in it, I leave it out and just swap sims so I,m hoping the fault is on the new sim, but I,ve been noticing lately that it seems to miss more shots than others covering the same ground, so I,ve been suspicious something was wrong for a while, I,ll check the old sim tomorrow and take it from there, I,ve found a bloke in Norfolk that repairs them but most camera shops don't even know what they are,
  7. Just a random one I,m afraid but one of my trail cams appears to have stopped playing, so I was wondering if in amongst the colourful selection of members we have here if anyone knows how to repair them or has a name or number of someone who does? Cheers
  8. My youngest boy is 24 now but as a young one I remember taking his stabilisers off and taking him for his first proper bike ride, I live on a dual carriage way and the pavement is a cycle path on one side and a pedestrian path on the other, so off we go wobbling off along the cycle path only to be blocked off by one of the neighbours who seems to think it's a carpark for him, he then came out and started shouting at us for riding on the pavement, when I told him were to go he went into his garage and came running out waving a pick handle at me and my kids, so I planted him firmly on his ass wh

    yes but which ones best
  10. I,m not a fan of conifers and one of that size will soon be uprooting your fence, they also stop anything else from growing near them as they take all the moisture and natural light, even grass won't grow to close to them, my advice would be to rid yourself of it while it's still a manageable size, or as others have said use the trunk for a bird feeder base,

Should have said the make is Swann, it's around £200 and it takes about 30 mins to set up all the plugs are colour coded so it's pretty idiot proof, and most of the 30mins was taken up clipping the wire along the underside of the facia, it comes with two or four cameras depending on what you need but you can add more cameras if you want, I got it in Maplins, it's been running for over a year and there is still loads more storage space, there is a small box that sits under the telly and you can go back over all the recorded footage or watch it live on your telly, Highly recommend it, even if

I bought a plug and play set up from Maplins for around £200 it takes up to four cameras and the picture quality is great, even picks up mice and frogs on the lawn at night, and for all the people saying it makes know difference they just cover there faces, that may be true and would not be helpful for the police to get a prosecution, but they still wear the same shell suit everyday so face or know face, if I have a photo of a faceless smack head that's still enough for me to collect them from the street and carry out a thorough interview in the back of my van, they will grass on there own mum
  13. I would think it more likely to be were the catty was kept I,e in a window with sun light shinning through or the rubber that the bands are tied on with reacting with the latex, if you ask anyone that goes lure fishing and uses those jelly rubber type lures, they will melt together when stored in the same box or go all sticky and stick to other rubber stuff,
  14. I wear camo trousers and crocks all the time because my backs so fecked I can't bend down to do laces up, I only wear boots when walking the dogs in the winter, and it takes longer to put them on than getting the dogs ready and my Rucker packed, I even wear crocks to work, have one nice pair of shoes to take the missus out but even that entails 10mins of rolling on the bed to reach the laces, as you get older functionality becomes much more important than fashion, I,ve just been out and cleared 4ton of hardcore off a job this morning in me crocks, my backs hurting like shit I,m stiff as a boar
  15. think it was a Nintendo how times have changed, back in my day the swappers normally went, lurcher for terrier , then terrier for pigeon loft, pigeon loft to canary,s the Internet has ruined everything
  16. old ruffus hussey seemed to do pretty well with stones, there's even an old video of him on some American chat show hitting things out the hosts hand live on telly, pre Internet days I used to keep the wheel nuts off the cars I scrapped and they made cracking ammo for the bigger tubes and square elastic of the time,
  17. Lurcher X lurcher my money,s on if anyone's still playing,
  18. I should,nt say it but when I go on day ticket waters I usually look at what things are banned and use that, it took 20 mins on the zig on a water were zigs are banned to have one, but my best fish are Uncaught Unknown ones, I had two 25lb commons from the Gloucester to sharpness canal a few years ago and I still rate them as my best catch as its 16 miles long about 30 meters wide and has no locks I fished most Friday nights for two years for those two, but the wildlife and and surroundings make it worth it, I just like being outdoors really, I,ve seen many things that you just don't get to se
  19. I started carping in 1990 mate had my first thirty a couple of years ago, I,ve fished rivers and canals out of the way for most of the time, but thought I better join the club so went up the monument and had one, also a good time for catty practice when your sat by the water for days on end, my mates lake must be lined with steel balls from days of winter boredom
  20. I have bolted a hare from a land drain with terriers when such things were considered acceptable, quite a surprise when your expecting a fox to pop out, have also seen a few in boggy ground when there was far nicer grassland around them, had a hare run up to my border Russell cross and start boxing around it in March, and had one run into my legs when the dogs were on it, that's about all my strange hare encounters and all took place in the early 80s when I could
  21. I go a bit soft and because the wife's not feeling great at the moment I carried her down the stairs to make my breakfast, what a gent
  22. but we should be changing to a wind turbine a solar panel and a teslar battery, but we won't because no one will tell you how or give you a hand getting off the ground because they are making to much money selling out of date technology to you and lining there pockets, and reading a set of guidelines drawn up by the very people robbing me does not make me feel anymore reassured, share holders equal price rises
  23. I don't buy from dangkung but use the equivalent to1745, I really like it but the size of the loop you make at the forks makes a massive difference, a single strand on a pickle fork but a loop of one third band length on my normal catty shoots 10mm steels lovely, were as I have a full length double on another one and that fires 12mm leads with ferocious power but the hand slaps are equally ferocious, so I would say a loop of one third is my favourite all rounder, if you make the loop with a piece of tube slid over instead of tuck and wrap you can adjust the loop size with a bit of spit and a g
  24. I recon that's just me and you then mate, I,m old and fecked so I only work two or three days a week which gives me two days were I just wander round in the wilderness with my dogs doing a bit of whatever I want, I have a catty in most coat pockets two hanging up in the tipper and a bag of ammo in most coats to, i always fire a few shots into the coppices before I enter to give the deer a heads up because my dog has a distinct dislike for them and in the valley I spend a lot of my time there are many eyes looking down on me, so they do have many uses apart from getting lunch or cutting tins in
