I love a bit of proper winter, still not quite there but a bit of snow would set things off nicely next week once the ground is good and cold, journey to work this morning was pretty pleasant along the Cotswolds edge ?
  4. Gave up on waterproof boots years ago, though for comfort I would advice a thin pair of socks inside ?

Just heard on my way home that temps here are going down to minus 5 for the next week or more have lots of wood cut and am just filling my water tank as the water points will be turned off from tomorrow, happy days, Stay safe and enjoy ??
  6. As you said you,ll just pop out and get some thermal of feral cats to prove your point mate, I know you won’t but it’s ok no one expects it so hows this for a comparison for you feral cat at much closer range you can clearly see the tail is exactly the same NOT but why let a little thing like that ruin your argument ??
  7. Unfortunately mate mc dull was off out to get us some thermal of feral cats about a week ago to prove your exact point but has so far let us down as was foxdropper going to post thermal of a Siamese to prove his point, but again failed to deliver, the buildings around it are the reason the scaling is taking some time and yes it is a very big tree, I,ve suggested taking a big dog there and getting some thermal of it to highlight the size but for now we will just have to wait and see, ??
  8. Totally agree mate, the other part of the equation that is impossible for me to portray is the fact the bloke filming it has hunted over this land for many many years and he knows exactly what it is, he has probably spent more nights out in the wild than many of our so called hunters on here will ever manage if they lived for two lifetimes, anyways sorry I can’t give you all the answers at once but I still have a family, life and full time job so everything else is as and when but as soon as more comes up it will get posted, ?
  9. To be honest mate there is an attempt to get the scaling done as we speak but I would say personally that video does not need scaling, it is quite clearly a puma, everyone I,ve shown the original to agree, even foxdropper almost admitted it before backtracking a normal cats tail would barely show up on thermal which is why I stuck a still up of the tail as it is clearly massive, I,ve probably seen more hoax’s than anyone which also makes this video so exciting, the hardest part of the scaling is not giving to much away as there are a lot of identifying features there and it is on someone’s per
  10. The video has now been put up more than once, sorry I didn’t bother to reply to you immediately but as you may notice rather a lot of you like to bombard me at the same time and I,m not the most literate person in the world, the funny thing is a few people from Canada have now seen the footage and don’t even flinch just look and see a cougar as they like to call them, I,m done with the rowing and moaning on here so won’t be engaging to much with anyone who’s sole purpose is just that, the first pic is quite clearly a large feline in a thermal scope, there is a story to it that I won’t bother y
  11. Mate your sticking up new data from a tracked and monitored population we really are nothing like the USA, you need to shake that out your mind as I said an area the size of Dartmoor 5 to 10 animals, if you want to know the reality’s look up a bloke called David Neil’s he puts a lot of stuff on Vimeo, has been tracking and monitoring pumas in the rockies for years 5 days and nights a week, has thousands of images and yet in his whole life saw 5 very fleeting glimpses, you will learn a lot more from him than all your wiki search’s etc he’s real and on the ground
  12. Not saying that’s not feasible but I do think most of the novelty type pet cats that were here like caracel just would not have been here in big enough number to have been able to breed true to type and would just end up in the feral gene pool like wildcats and jungle cats, though there is a jungle cat stuffed in the local museum that was killed in a RTA not that many years back, I think one of the things people don’t grasp is just how many of these things were here in the 60s and 70s in private zoos and houses, you only have to look how many people start breeding bengals and savannah cats onc
  13. It’s coming mate, only downside like most other things in the uk there are a lot of rules and limitations on there use, my mate in Tamworth has some serious kit runs a fishing complex of 12/14 lakes set over quite a few acres and simply flys the drone round the whole complex in minutes checking for poachers, but you can see and make out quite clearly rabbits, deer ,fox and badgers when he’s doing the rounds I just need to get him out also the bloke that runs the podcast has got his son licensed to fly one, think the thermal will definately uncover a few secrets sadly it will also lead to a few m
  14. No to both really only thing I find a little strange is the caracel I D I would be more inclined to think young puma due to the location, you also have to accept the lochness monster is no longer there if it ever was, simply by the lack of sightings in more recent years unlike cat sightings that are annually pretty consistent, ?
  15. And I’m sure that has happened on more than one occasion but in general sheep are way down on the list and dipping seems to stop it like I said before unless a cub is involved they will keep on moving so by the time the sheep is taken and noticed the animal concerned is often miles away taking someone else’s sheep ?
  16. Why do you need loads of dead sheep mate a naturalised cat would take one in a week to feed the Borath lynx that escaped a few years back killed 7 in days making it obvious were it was
  17. Have heard of a falconer that had one come out while the bird was on a rabbit and someone trying to start a chainsaw also had one come out of cover, make of that what you will ?
  18. Yes mate I obviously never saw it but I was in a wood in an old quarry once playing my cougar call and I had something circling me in the bush was just out of sight but magpies and stuff were going mental as it went round was quite Erie but as I said nothing came out so could of been anything, in all honesty haven’t used it as much as I should really ?
  19. Dog and cat kills are very different shouldn’t be hard to tell if you have a few kills, the rest of the flock also seem to react differently dogs seem to freak out the whole flock but we’re cats are suspected the rest of the flock seem quite relaxed by comparison ?
  20. I’ve said for a while that thermal holds the key it has its limitations regarding zooming etc but it’s definitely opening up things, I,ll make a cat hunter out of you yet mate fear not?
  21. No they really do mate they come together to mate and a cub will stay with mum but in general the cats we are referring to are solitary animals sorry
  22. £2.50 breakfast were I’m working at the mo, you can have beans toms chips etc but that does me pricedper item ?
  23. Be interesting to know if the sheep are dipped or not, a lot of hill flocks aren’t and do get hit dipping seems a deterrent ?
  24. I,m getting a pony and trap, I deserve it ?
