  1. I read too much and over complicate things my trouble Gilbey, but yeah a good quality dry food. With cooked meat rather than raw should go through the gut evenly
  2. Salmon oil the same thinking as cod liver oil , good for coat and joints etc ? Yeah going back to my roots lol I have around 3 years when my youngest moves off to university or comes with. Will get boat first moor it local and kit it out and get a hybrid whippet pup trained on the lamp to a mint standard. Happy days
  3. What do you think about the different rates of digestion that raw and biscuits take when mixed together I guess some meat is better than none. I'm only planning on one mouth to feed. I am going to be moving to a narrow boat in not too distant future so freezer space will be minimal a few chicken wings max, I saw that skinners are doing a wet meat foil pack a quid a go, but hey I've only the one mouth to feed just need something that doesn't need freezing but at the same time be decent. Not a yard full of cow Pat's.
  4. Get your self a metal detector
  5. Can anyone recommend a decent dry food ? I'm planning a bit of a lifestyle change living life on a boat. I hope to have a good lamping dog by the time we are afloat. So I figure during the winter months at least to have a few rabbits for us and dog. During the spring summer months I guess it's going to have to be a dry complete food which I really dont like tbo. But don't see an alternative any recommends Thanks
  6. Whys that Penda, because you know what your getting with less in the mix ?
  7. Remember my mates whippet lurcher working twitchy but silent on top of rabbit bury, she was about 14yrs then but was a right place right time sort and always retrieved alive straight to hand and she was someone's cast of
  8. Yeah, but we ok to talk rabbits, I think you done well to get pictures I tried a few times but nah.
  9. I really miss my old jill when it was hot she would swim in the kids paddling pool do a couple of lengths hop out and roll around then walk off with the dog following he knew who made the rabbits run
  10. Arrr I see edited by Lilias not written I got you lpd.
  11. Yer I know what you mean sounds like the words of a dog peddler. Might of been one that once told me that ..
  12. Stunning dogs he produces, a mates dog has some black raven in him. By all counts a very handy dog in his day.
  13. Arrr thanks for the correction Gilbey. So what did Colonel Hancock do to help Dave, I always thought he ment the lurcher farmer when speaking to him lol.
  14. I think Hancock later teamed up with Dave Platts to help with his deer hound revival Its quite incestuous the dog world.
  15. Didn't his line die off, as too much inbreeding and not out crossing, if I heard that right.
  16. Could be mate, also said to breed them young to stretch hips etc to make for easier litters later if bred from again. Makes um run better after a litter ?
  17. Om sure I was told or read some where that when using collie blood the greyhound should always be the sire. It may have been Lilias Rider Haggard in his book, when describing Smithfield breeding. That old book set the bar for all others that followed imo.
  18. With regards to the question of whether the sire or dam has most influence on the litter: I remember reading several times about people feeling that the dam has the most influence simply because of the fact that she's raised them it's not just food that comes from mothers milk so I would say the bitch would have the most influence
  19. Yep he is that, I try to avoid his kit I did buy a bucket the other week and discovered it was one of his, pissed me right off.
  20. Thanks Fred, and good luck with the lamping, I need to pick myself up another lamp but I'm not a fan of these led ones.
  21. I met him before he started Korda and took an instant dislike to him thought he was a weasel
  22. So 2 1/8ths could produce a yapper do you think it comes from the beddy, I thought it was a nervous thing when on larger quarry. Cheers
