Stunning dogs he produces, a mates dog has some black raven in him. By all counts a very handy dog in his day.

I think Hancock later teamed up with Dave Platts to help with his deer hound revival Its quite incestuous the dog world.

Could be mate, also said to breed them young to stretch hips etc to make for easier litters later if bred from again. Makes um run better after a litter ?

Om sure I was told or read some where that when using collie blood the greyhound should always be the sire. It may have been Lilias Rider Haggard in his book, when describing Smithfield breeding. That old book set the bar for all others that followed imo.

With regards to the question of whether the sire or dam has most influence on the litter: I remember reading several times about people feeling that the dam has the most influence simply because of the fact that she's raised them it's not just food that comes from mothers milk so I would say the bitch would have the most influence

I could never stop my old lurcher once the red mist came down, did she bark while chasing? Sorry for all the questions mate but I'm heading the same way not pure whippet but a lot of whippet blood in the mix so to speak.

Looking forward to seeing how she does on the lamp, if I remember some of your posts she was a squirrel assassin and was climbing trees in order to get them. Or I have you mixed up with someone else of here. Did she hit wire mate ?

Thanks for that I'm getting a better understanding of bitza breeding seems like these truly special dogs that appear with the right owners really are like winning the lottery. Down side to owning such a dog is that all dogs after never measure up, I suppose
