  3. a cold local cider always goes down well in the summer.just getting a taste of a good whisky.if you sip just a little bit instead of downing a shot its actually quite nice and mulled wine.
  4. another good bit of beef is the feather steak(diaphram, seperates the stomach from the pluck).we throw it away over here but its worth more than sirlion in other countries.

  7. what about this then, you admit they all look the same but with different working traits.line bred pups shouldn't just look the same but behave the same with the same working qualitys surely thats the whole point.excuse me if i'm being thick
  8. I think all families will need to outcross at some point, and that is where danger lies. When you have spent years purifying or narrowing your gene pool it is impossible to have your eye on everything and some things are unseen. You can inbreed to do good or bad. You are engineering nature and all inbreeding is doing for you is vastly speeding up natural selection. The responsibility for the right selection lies with you. When you outcross you allow in thousands of genes, some of which can undo all the good work you have done.If possible an out and out outcross should be avoided and distantly re

  11. I had a long winded reply all ready to go but I deleted it, Im gonna bow out of this one. Each to his own I suppose. If it works for you keep at it, and I'm not saying that in a smart way. A.t.bf**k it! I have to bite.. This topic hits a nerve. I've recently bred a litter of 1sx bullxwhippets. I can stand over mother and father as good dogs at their jobs. What's more is that I can trace the pedigrees on both sides to a long line of some really good producing dogs.question... Do u think if I found a whippet on done deal (background unknown) and a pit bull on done deal (background unknown) that
  12. line breed if you want to mate or don't.i can see what your saying about line breeding but a line bred dog won't do anything better than 2 excellent non related hard working parents at the end of the day.
  13. I think jeems write up is a very good explanation. That's fine to not understand something, it's another to dismiss it. It is absolutely necessary to have, even a basic understanding of this stuff if a man is to better a line of working animal's. The world's best greyhound, gamefowl , pitbull, sled dog, protection dogs, race horse, and on and on. Would have been bred using the process jeems took the time to explain.didn't mean to dismiss it, sorry jeemes.if i was looking to breed i would just want a dog doing the business at the top of his trade.wouldn't mind what blood was in it.breeders of g

  16. just 1 myth about the deerhound/greyhound is they are slow to mature i hear it said by all the experts.i've had afew of them now (PRE BAN TIMES) they all but one entered on day time roe deer at 10 months same with rabbits, hare about 1 year depends when they were born and fox about 18-24 months.although 1 would only go in 2's up.but all x's jack.i'm a big fan of them.
