James, I've put the word out to some people in know over there. As far as the organised hunts go (from elevated platforms) this one didn't 'cost the earth' if you can get a cheap enough flight into Tallin. http://www.nordicfootprints.com/eng/Hunting/hunt_estonia.htm All the best! Neil

There are three bitches in my house (occasionally 4 but that's another story). Two Alanos, 7 and 5 yrs and EBT 5 years. Both the older Alano and the EBT ALWAYS clean the 5 year old as soon as we stop walking/get in the car/get home. I think there is a deference issue here as well as maternal instinct. Cheers, psg

Those 'Esk' variants look pretty good. Never been too keen on rubber, but those look like they might do the trick. you have a pair cc99 ?

I only own boots! I've had a pair of Barbour commando boots now for 6 years. Really knocked the crap out of them and they still take a polish. Solid, support and comfortable. Don't think you can get them here (?) but a western style/rigger from Ariat are the dogs b#llocks. Wade through anything, not great on ice but snake-proof! brilliant http://www.ariat.com/products_listing.aspx...;scid=5&gf= and before anyone mentions the Village People These are the ones I use http://www.ariat.com/products_detail.aspx?...d=5&pid=189 Cheers! they do English styles too !

there's plently of black people who proudly wear the Union Flag, particularly sportsmen and women. Gavin Henson remains a 'grey area'

I'd be fasinated to know what Mr Multicultural thinks of his Oh So Trendy idea Today! I remember reading about this many moons ago on "Stormfront". One of the respones beyond the obvious absurdity of the idea was that the blue and red people would still be over-represented in the flag. Still makes me smile !

certainly anyone finding themselves squeezed out of the job market has a degree of my sympathy but it's hardly the fault of the economic migrants. we had our own home-grown migrants in the early 's ("auf weidersehen, pet"). for the last 10-15 years trades market has been booming and there has not been enough teams to meet the demand. rates sky-rocketed, standards plummetted and there was little chance of anyone returning to snag or fix the job. some of these "hoddit & doddit" comedians couldn't butt-join two pieces of timber or even owned a 'bead' and were asking £35-£40 an hour!!! as a

75,000 years ago, intelligent man OUR ancestors walked out of africa. a few centuries ago we returned to see the same 'woolies' left behind, bollock nacked blank stares, sticks and flies.......we should have turned around then and never gone back. western money, western arms and wester greed has given the monster means. western communication gives them a forum to spread hatred. we should ban any aid and ban travel to these God-Forsaken (if he was ever benevolent there in first place) lands. We should certainly ban any more of them ever darkening our shores and give them free-passage home if n

it's definitley good that you consider such precautions, but you are worrying a little too much. as skycat has said, with a little common sense regarding sanitation you can let mum out asap. certainly it would be good to keep her on a lead if possible, but if she's supervised that should be fine. she ought to be kept away from all forms of excrement and dirty water, but running around in the woods should be fine! good luck with them!

The forest is for everyone, not just you, tosser, so get used to it. My question was about wild boar and the safety of my dogs. Free roaming sheep are not a problem for us. you did state that your dogs like to hunt anything.?if you were aware of the law its illegal to hunt with a bow in this country .also theres a lot of jumpy people up here including stock owners, the owners of free roaming sheep are called sheep badgers a lot carry guns in their cars when they do the rounds and when i moved here 4 yrs ago i was warned of which ones shoot unleashed dogs nr their stock and ask questions la

I think there will be a few comments on this thread, Mate! I agree with you; working shouldn't be mentioned as the parents weren't working dogs. I'd also agree with your criteria for working dogs. It's difficult to measure a pups potential either way: both parents could be workers but the pup useless or perhaps a pup from distant working lines might turn out to be a real keen worker. Begs question of how much of the work is learned behaviour and how much of it instinctive. I would say that anyone announcing pups for sale should stick to the facts and be conservative of potential.

Quite right, too, FPO. Rare fish!

hmmmm... legal to hunt with dogs in Europe. With exception of Spain (grey area of Huelva and Portugese territoty ) no other country (including Belgium) allows holding of boar with dogs. dogs must be used exclusively as flushing dogs or recovery dogs. Boar must be dispatched by firearm. England to Estonia.........

I'd say the distribution is fairly sporadic in UK. Where Boar have been farmed in the first instance and moving out from there. Devon to Sutherland in the far north of Scotland in isolated patches.

Wouldn't be my first choice of cross (or even fifteenth) but you should perhaps think more about specific dogs than breeds. There are certainly types which could do the job hypothetically speaking of course already available. Sighthound-bulldog crosses in various proportions. Moreover, you'd be surprised what you might find if you know where to look. You should be thinking stealth, so not anymore than two dogs and a bit of extra weight doesn't hurt with that in mind (just out walking eh?). Scotsman's Alaunt looks the ticket but don't know how he performs. You want a smart dog with

agreed. i have sent you a message with the details of the fella you need to talk too. We have a brother of the Maggie and Tom is just the boy for her. Serious deerhounds in that proposed litter, Mate.

the fact that the dog had the runs and there was some red blood, I would be inclined to believe that she may have nicked her lower intestine wall or her anus with a splinter/ piece of bone. the fact that the blood was red and there is no abdominal swelling would serve to indicate that the problem is in the last half-meter of her system. it will mend itself provided the bone is not lodged there and an x-ray would show that. colitis is also a possibility as mentioned but likely a smaller amount of blood. the blood in the vomit is most likely a different complaint and not related. how

Can't fault you. I bought one for a friend in NZ with plans on using him later. Got him from fantastic stock (hunting, highly conformant) from a great guy down in Melbourne. Fella is called Kesper and kennel is Mapleridge. He hunts fox, 'roos etc. cheers

Shepp, What type of dog is it we're talking about? Is it a Border Collie or cross thereof? Certainly you should manage the diet to the dog and it's excercise levels. One diet does not fit all! It may be that you are making life a little more complicated than need be. Why not use a quality dry food? Your dog will get everything it needs, it's teeth won't tarter and won't suffer too many fluctuations in diet. Within the period 6-12 months the dog will build all the bone it is likely to have for it's life (only maintenance thereafter), so certainly the calcium from bones is great (bon

Society should be less concerned with what makes them tick, than stopping them ticking at all! Scum like that should just be put down themselves!

No truer words said, allgame You running, Staghounds?

Anybody use any specific woods to flavour with smoke? I'm not sure we have anything suitable in the UK.....any ideas? I'd expect hickory or mesquite from the US.....Maybe something else from Oz. Do we have any such traditions for BBQ's?
