  1. DW I'm just doing the old vermin control, bit of wildlife conservation...I'd trap them all year round if there about because of the damage they do, I'm no american fur harvester, what do you take me for davey crocket.. ... Good effort on the mink though on your part, although I'd be doing it year round, prime pelt or not..... Save our native wildlife and fauna...
  2. Just started some rabbiting for a local farm, plenty about so I've been ferreting them before spring arrives with vengence...They are big into conservation and leave the usual headlands and summer fallow to encourage wild birds like the grey partridge... I noticed some mink footings and set a 116 baited, the recent rain had caused a rise in level and disturbed the set, checked today and mr minks curiousity failed him....The set was not remade fully..
  3. Moles digging tunnels shift mud around left right and centre... leads to more than a few backfilled traps
  4. Yes I've been digging to young, and most of them are carrying young now... Get at them before the cover kicks in, will make a difference come spring..
  5. Lowa, Meindl, Hanwag, etc Most german boots are quality...
  6. I like to be open minded and sit on the fence... I've coursed hares, lamped them and shot them... I normally leave them unless a farmer wants them gone, some like them around the farm, others say everything needs to be controlled... I used to get more enjoyment watching a dog course old lepus than you will ever get pulling a trigger, but one form of control is legal and much more efficient than the other, although maybe not benefical for the hare itself... If an estate can have a shoot and take 3000 a season, theres a serious hare problem, and they need balancing out if thats arable land.

  18. Duffus types are the best IMO by far in terms of cost and efficiency... the talpex style are also good, but more expensive... Can't see the need for anything else in 90% of cases, fair enough these trapline jobs if the ground is frozen... But other than that, stick to the proven methods..
  19. Think mine must be the Mk1, I acquired it from a work mate, the silencer has a weird red style sheen to it, its only been used a handfull of times for paper targets, although its immaculate , the pressure seems to be leaking down somehow, any suspect points from anyone with similar problems...?
  20. ... Foxes are amazing animals, you should learn to respect them for what they are, EVEN though they need controlling in places... Some poor statements
  21. They don't have any idea how beneficial snares are when controlling problems with rabbits or foxes..... Let the blind morons get on with it, it would be a sad loss to see one of the oldest methods of hunting lost for ever within the UK... People will still carry on, as they do with whatever else they decide to ban the next week or the week after... I say end the oil age, bring on a mad max world, see how long these lettuce munching do gooders survive.... who the hell sanctions all these laws, some idiot townies and city dwellers who never set foot in the countryside, with a degree earned in a
