We still fish them in the season would usually get 10 or 12 dozen any night you’d go just for a feed and to pass around. Good old sport and nice to get out on the crisp winter nights. Always a good few trout running that time of year as well so a nice bonus. I find herrings very tastey I really enjoy them proper fish taste and very clean.

Funny enough I got a single herring a few year back. Buy yes back in the day there was a big herring fishery in the Solway and the Irish sea. There's a lot of whitebait get caught in puddles on the sand. I've taken them jome and eaten them. They are a favourite dish in Spain and elsewhere.

Is fishing herrings in a small punt a thing on the solway? I just watched the video of the haaf netting I hadn’t ever seen that before have seen similar things but they were a more permanent thing like a trap. But the estuary looks like a place you’d get herrings in the season

If you tap into a sewer for out you p.trap.unless it's already done like a toilet sink etc your soil pipes up.in the air smell gets took in the slipmstream If it's a bungalow you have a one way trap on the top.of the soil pipe You'd have to Google why a soil pipe is even open at one end lol

What does a vented soil pipe actually do? It runs onto/into a main line, combined or not...why does a toilet,sink,bath,shower have a trap on it before it hits the soil pipe? To stop the smell and gasses Sherlock shall I Google it,and put up a picture?
