nestle purina maintenance formula is vat free and £7.50 for a 15k bag, at 29% protein it can be cut with cooked veg etc during the off season to reduce the % to around 24 and make it last longer. it takes a few days to settle with a new diet but then they seem to do well on it. if there is a farm supplier locally, such as mole valley farmers, then they are likely to offer a good price.

Raw meat and veg, easy do it for a tenner a month. My butcher sell's dog meat, basically all the scraps minced, 30p a pound, add some raw veg and some rice or pasta if you want. Theres some good threads about it on here or other sites. I've fed my dogs this way for a while and they've never looked so good.
