whippet08 8
hi everyone,i have seperated my two hobs (there brothers) as the less dominant one has scabs on his back, from getting by the dominant one,he is ok but i just wanted too let his sores heal,as all the time the're fighting it will be aggitated,my question is ,once healed and i place him back in with the other will i have a problem i.e will they think there strangers and fight aggresivley or will they remember eachother, cheers rich also heres a pic of the scab, i am thinking this is from scraping as the dominant hob has none ,is this familliar with any of you, if so is it due to fighting? Kay 3,709
Only one way to find out if there still going to fight, try them together Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
The wound seems a little far from hobs head for a battle wound, keep a close eye on it, when your happy with it, pair them up again and see what happens? Quote Link to post
sue 1
as your hobs come out of season they are more likely to be ok together again but it might all start over again next spring ,so be prepared to separate them again if you are not planning on breeding them my suggestion is to get them castrated Quote Link to post

stubby 175
as others have said, its a dominance thing, have 3 of last years hobs all caged together, and they seem to have worn themselves out for this year, but another 3 of this years hobs, which are caged seperately, two of them have the scaby back, with "boston" being the biggest and therefore more dominant, I personaly dont think yours looks that bad, and would have left them togther, the nights are getting longer, so they will soon give it up, try putting either some SUDACREAM(babies bum cream) or teatree oil on the scabs Quote Link to post
droid 11
I'd hold on the Tea Tree oil, there are toxicity issues I believe (i.e. I vaguely recall reading about it from a trustworthy source but can't for the life of me remember where it was ) Savlon is safe, and works.
