I tend to run away flapping my arms in the air when ever they come near me so i never get to see them up close in person like that.

What`s the difference between them and wasps?

Not like it`s going to change the fact im 5h!t scared of them all!!!!

Just for you Name I have fished a wasp out of the wasp trap for a comparison :D

It's a bit worse for wear but you get the gist. The wasp is the one on the 10p.

:icon_eek: It`s a colourful sparrow!

That`s not what i thought a hornet was, i used to think those little ones that just hover around you and don`t sting were hornets.

Don`t think i`ve ever seen a real hornet before, after seeing that picture i don't really want to.

Thanks for showing that John

Hoverflies possibly, Name...?

nice pic JB, one landed on the fence in the garden about a week ago. By the time I'd gone into the house to get the camera, it'd buggered off! It was the only one I've ever seen as well.

I remember going into lowther show about 15 years ago, in the queue of cars on the way in, there were loads of hornets all over the cars, it was a hot day, and they were flying into the cars through the open windows. It was absolute mayhem! People running round screaming! Hilarious!

Recently I have had them flying in my back door at night almost every night, spend ages chasing them around with a newspaper lol

They don't give much trouble until the evenings draw- in,people have their lights on earlier and windows open because it is (supposed to be :whistling: ) summer. "Ooh look girls a light ,bzzzzzz".

Holland's Hope put a great link to hornets attacking bees up a few weeks ago.
