Nice looking dog, charts.

But, to use katchum's vernacular, what sort sort of homosexual degenerate would walk that in public?!!

But the mother to Dons pup looks a lot like it , and I know him well enough to have an inkling when heโ€™s winding people up๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘

But they are a bit effeminate, arent they ๐Ÿ˜‚

Worked a whippet ferreting and on the lamp she never ever yapped......small dogs will tend to yap out of frustration especially on quarry there losing ground on......whippets are excellent rabbit dogs

Just my opinion , but I think most first cross beddy/whippets are overmatched and tend to yap out of frustration. Not so much with a beddy whippet/grey or beddy/ grey. Dont get me wrong, I like a

A deep wide chest usually means plenty heart and lung room, especially in a running dog. This little bitch jus about makes 21โ€ but look at the depth of chest; ย  Cheers. ย

Hard to say. I asked Hamed the same thing and he said looks mean nothing , itโ€™s working ability that counts.ย
Again , I asked ifย he preferred smooth or feathered and got the same answer.

How do you tell how an eight week old pup is going to turn out, you can only go by the parents.

Iโ€™d personally prefer a Black and Tan feathered type, but thatโ€™s just cosmetic and easy on my eye, it has no bearing on working ability.

like these pups;

I be honest they are gayer than bump sexย with a guy called Brian hahq I never saw one I thought looked anything special, itโ€™s sort a there super power tho ainโ€™t it, look like pure unassuming things but can run like fcuk, but compare any saluki to a decent grey or whippet an thereโ€™s no comparison in looks imho the sprinters deffo look betterย

ย

An noย winding up haha I wil literslly shave the ears an tail an anything else even resembling feathering on that pup if it ends up with it hahaย

Never been a fan of collie blood I've seen a few and they've been good in there own right......but at the same time they've all been quirky hard headed weirdos๐Ÿคฃ nothing against them just not my cuppa tea๐Ÿ‘

Not many defenders of the collie crosses on here now, so I'll put my two penneth worth in, based on what i've seen...

I honestlyย  think they are the ultimate 'Marmite' dog in the lurcher world...

Perhaps the worst lurchers I've seen slipped have been pastoral types. Those that look at their chosen quarry with almost indifference, picking and choosing their runs. Or those that stalk every time the slip is released, usually making a hash of the catch. Some are just neuroticย kennel nightmares, crying, whining feckers that make shitty Salukies look sedate.

Oh and donโ€™t forget the 'fantics',ย  those that can't mooch at any other pace than flat out, and are either physically destroyed by the time they put something up, or have turned 'white eyed' by that effort, and can't focus on their quarries moves.

ย

All that said, and 'most' of the best all rounders I've ever seen have had loads of pastoral blood. Dogs that can lamp all night on ANY quarry, ferret all day over the worst terrain this country has to offer. Dogs that can hunt-up and kill the best daytime hare. Dogs that will hit a Fallow Buck, head on, in October and best it... Dogs that will run foxes for numbers all night,ย always at the sharp end, dogs thatย develop an almost pathological hatred of foxes, and continue to 'kill' them long after they're dead. Some of these were commercially bred..!!

The right drop of pastoral blood can go a long way...

And this type can produce so many variables.

But what is soย obvious to me is who owns that type, and who can get the most from them.ย THEY are few and far between...

Looking back, the truth is, i've never been one of them, I know I've never been good enough. I've owned decent enough dogs with a percentage of pastoral blood, but those full bloods, I couldn't handle...

The best i've owned wasย bred by Joe Ox, and heย was some animal. Thank you Joe... ๐Ÿ‘

Joes dogs are/were mainly line bred collie/bull/greyhound, top class at their game. I was lucky enough to have a run out with him with an old deer/grey some years back ๐Ÿ‘

Flippin noraย  how the bitch get on the winter

๐Ÿ˜‚ It was decent enough, she stopped enough hares, and bigger stuff. Nailed plenty of rats, and even came along on the odd shoot day,ย  flushing with the gundogs (quite proud of that one too!)

Think I've said on here a couple of years back, I just have a pop at most stuff now, more like I did 40 years ago, but slower, and with more brain and tact... ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Thanks for asking mate... ๐Ÿ‘
