Last Monday my 14 year old daughter had a seizure in the house . Luckily my mrs was there and heard mumbling so went in to see and caught her getting up off the sofa having a tonic clonic seizure and caught her and put her in recovery position.  My mrs works in care for people with special needs so lots of them have epilepsy so she knows the protocol. Ambulance came and I rushed home from work .  She has 2-3 minutes fit then 10-15 mins not knowing where she is it whats happening and is all lucid .

Day in hospital and zero head scan . Told us to go about life as normal because it may mever happen again . She went to play football last Sunday and was stretching in the warm up and had another seizure on the pitch.  Same protocol and same result in the hospital. We have a phone meeting tmrow with some neurological person and want her head scanned . If they can't sort it soon I will have to try private scan just to get it done

We want to get a watch for epileptics that will send us a alert if she has one again . This is what we found.

My head is dead at the moment. I looked up seizures online and read some terrifying things about the possibilities.

I went in for a op in October night a day

Lots of things can cause them...

But people with epilepsy can benefit from low carb diets....in fact studies were done over 100 years ago...they put epileptics on a pure meat carnivore diet...and it helped immensely...not saying it would help your daughter....but its out there on the net if you look...

Best wishes to ya...its always a nightmare when it's kids that are ill with something

Having the second seizure should now meet the criteria for a immediate MRI which is better than a CT so push for that..

The kid next door had childhood epilepsy ( benign rolandic epilepsy) and has grown out of it now used to be scary though I’ve seen him do it on the playground.

Also normal for disorientation to last from minutes to hours.

demand that MRI mate, hope all is well with her and do yourself a favour and keep off doctor google it will only raise your worries.

Push for every test available, feel a knob fkr even saying as it’s not appropriate for this genuine thread but you’d get it if you was an immigrant, if you can go private, do it, if not push for everything an don’t take no for an answer

my younger brother was about 21 an had a few fits in space of a few month but then nowt ever happened again, but he was took to hospital an given scans an allsorts after the 2nd one, they said he had mild epilepsy but like I say just never come back after few months, he 40odd now, even tho he ain’t had one for years he ain’t ever tried passing his driving test cos them fits scared him an he said he couldn’t  trust himself on road ever

My mum started having epileptic fits from the age of 18 , they never found out why they started .. can remember her having fits when I was 5-6 , was a horrible and  scary thing to see …. Tablets eventually reduced the fits to just vacant episodes , she never went to a nightclub or anywhere with flashing lights and was unable to take a driving test … hope you get it sorted ..best of luck 👍

Im hoping the meeting with neurologist tommorow will mean we get a head scan.  Depending on timescale will decide if we go private .

At the moment mrs has gone on sick from work for 2 weeks so that she is always around my daughter.  Ive gone to sleep on the sofa so my daughters on my side of the bed now so if anything happens at night my mrs is there.

Fuckng stupid advice after the first seizure to carry on life as normal.  She could have been anywhere and had another seizure and not have anybody to catch her as she goes down

In herself she is absolutly fine a hour after the seizure and coming out of it all . I cant help but stress inside my head 24/7 . I just want some sort of answers or feel something is moving forward

After the second seizure when she was on the football pitch I was lying on the grass with her stroking her head making sure she kept her eyes open , her coach had been crying  , all the girls were in bits seeing their team mate and friend convulsing on the floor , the coach phoned up the league to tell them game was off and what happened.  The guy on the other end of the phone said " Havnt you got any more subs ? " . The coach went mental over the phone . The refferee came over as we were lifting my daughter up off the grass with the paramedics to walk her over to the ambulance and asked for his match fee aswell . The coach did well not to thump him
