Feck that. We use big canes up to 15ft  at work  and they can randomly snap and have plenty with weak spots so sod relying on them as scaffolding

You got big long canes?

Yes it's like a downrigger for fishing at extreme depth. Your actually using a handline, the rod just holds it away from the boat. 

I went out char fishing in summer and caught about 8. I gave them to my brother to BBQ for us and he did 7 of them on a day we couldn't go! So I've still not tried em! But he still has one in the freezer. 

Apparently they are fantastic eating

How many do you want? You're probably better off with a cheapo telescopic carbon whip though as I say canes are fragile buggers.
