What's a year in jail worth?

I'm a bit cynical Mack. Would the young lad really have received enlightment? Whatever that is? He would be more likely be loopy because of sensory deception and no human contact. But if he did, or thinks he did, good luck. There's millions of ways to live life. Most don't get the luxury of choice. But if that is his chosen path. Fairplay.

I never “got it” either in all honesty Juk,I heard a few stories of people dying in meditation, one monk tried to explain to me that most western peoples minds are cluttered with inconsequential thoughts and meditation declutters and defrags the mind.but he was a bit of a let-down in the end as he asked could I get him a beer.

I came to the conclusion religion is the exercise of ultimate power, which often leads to sexual abuse and the extortion of money. I go with the belief that if there is a power out there, you are best communicatiing with or feeling that  that power in the natural world. In the seas , the woods and the mountains.

How's that for today's thought for the day? Lol

I think it’s particularly apt today of all days to mention the millions of young men who gave up their freedom, gave up seeing their families and in many cases, gave up their lives , to volunteer to fight for their countries and came back, not to a “country fit for heroes, but to a country that was indifferent to them.

Spending a year or two in a “soft” prison for a white collar crime, and coming out and still having access to your ill gotten gains seems a good deal in comparison….
Cheers.

When I first started work there were lots of ex servicemen who had fought in WW2. Some had lost a leg, others were missing an arm and a lot  had shell shock. Every pub had some poor sod marching up and down the bar believing he was still on parade.

I remember asking one guy if he'd killed any germans. He said he hoped not, they were just in the f****n war like him. He said all he remembered was firing his rifle from a trench, with his trousers around his ankles and "skitters flying from my arse" from dysentery. He said you don't feel brave, or anything except fear and misery with uncontrollable skitters and your breeks stained and reeking from shit.

Ruined my image of war which I'd got from the comics. Lol

I guess all those guys would have exchanged their time in the war for a few cushy years in jail.

The 100 year old veteran who was interviewed on tv the other day and said it wasn’t worth fighting in the war when he sees the state of the country now, struck a cord with me; he was in the Royal Navy and served on the Russian Arctic convoys. My dad would be about the same age and was also in the RN and served on the Russian convoys, and used to say exactly the same thing.
Who knows, they may even have served together.

Cheers.

No way id spend a day in prison.

Have you seen how pretty I am 😳

I'd be destroyed within hours worse than one of iww sex dolls

Tell the truth. You'd be destroyed because nobody would fancy you. I heard your last lover say  he was very disappointed with you. " Lacking passion, warmth and imagination" were his exact words. One day I will reveal that lover's name. He's on here. To that person..... Don't annoy me or I will grass.
