I have seen a few goosanders mate,they are like the mergansers over here,seen all sorts of birds the last few weeks,the migration south is underway.

Just been watching about a belted king fisher only ever 4 been recorded in the uk , should be in north America so blown well off course 

that would be amazing to see /photograph

Nice looking unusual bird makes you wonder what else as came over our shores I remember we had some waxwing birds over here some time back from a other country

Waxwing were regular winter visitors to Sunderland when I was a kid,the local newspaper would report their arrival and I would see them often when I was walking my dogs.

When I'm at the lake/rivers,I  shoot any  cormorants/goosanders on site,f**k the Twitchers ...

The one and only lamaguire vulture to venture into England as far as I know and I saw it twice before it got spotted by the birdies

Cormorants and goosanders eat a lot of salmon fry and smolts. Neither belong on our rivers. Cormorants are marine birds and goosanders ate foreign imports.

You can get a licence to control them but they only allow you to kill a dozen birds. Some controllers aren't great counters though.

there was one down my way a week or two ago, all the birders calling for a look then a dog walker walked past and his dog spooked the hoopoe which took flight and it was taken by a peregrine falcon

I believe a lot of the cormorants are actually freshwater birds that have come from the continent rather than our marine birds.
