From a different era. 83 pro fights in 23 years, granted not all against high ranking opponents, but compare that to some of todays elite boxers who want a defence every 18 months. RIP

Was he English? I Remember him, and cannot be bothered to Google it, but had a foreign accent? Held British belts and contested for Britain in world title fights if I remember correctly. Mam and dad screaming at the tele

He was born in Hungary and then emigrated to Australia hence his nickname Aussie Joe he fought Ali twice if I remember at a time when all the greats where about not sure if he fought Henry Cooper, but an entertaining bloke RIP.

Just thinking back to how much he was supported back in the day, that's 1 for the lefties, political left not southpaws  Sure he fought our 'enry.

I looked it up Joe beat Henry over 15 rounds on a 1/4 points decision in 1971.

I remember  watching Brian Jacks, and Kevin keegan, in 'superstars.'

Remember seeing him on telly with Joe burger talking about the careers both doing well at the time
