Was he English? I Remember him, and cannot be bothered to Google it, but had a foreign accent? Held British belts and contested for Britain in world title fights if I remember correctly. Mam and dad screaming at the tele 🙂

He was born in Hungary and then emigrated to Australia hence his nickname Aussie Joe he fought Ali twice if I remember at a time when all the greats where about not sure if he fought Henry Cooper, but an entertaining bloke RIP.

I looked it up Joe beat Henry over 15 rounds on a 1/4 points decision in 1971.

Just been chatting to a mate this afternoon who spent some time in Thailand 

said he knew Brian jacks living out there

wonderd what happened to him a big name in judo in his day

I remember  watching Brian Jacks, and Kevin keegan, in 'superstars.'
