There used to be a comp up Scotland where pure Salukis and deerhounds had field classes in the coursing

I think they forgot that a lot of folk still coursed pure Salukis

Didn't doxhope have both saluki and deerhound

Never heard him mention Salukis when I’ve spoken to him . He had the prefix Doxhope Deerhounds. He may have had the odd saluki but never seen him with one but pure deerhounds and deerhound lurchers are what he’s known for.

Are you thinking of Rupert Slack ? He had deerhound crosses for years but I think he had coursing bred saluki types later

Cheers.

Oh.... Just that you said that one and the black un, two of the fastest in the country over the sprint distant

Has he threw owt any good do you know

Yes mate, they are, or were, they are around 7 now. The black one won the veteran scratch race at the Scottish Derby a couple of weeks ago in a faster time than the normal scratch races, and had been the fastest scratch dog for years, regularly breaking 8 seconds for 150 yards. The fawn one is faster than the black one when run over 270 out of greyhound traps.

Maxs bitch bred from a non-ped champion and a lurcher is in pup to the black one, I don’t know of any dogs out of the fawn one.

Cheers.

The fawn one. I know the lad who owns both and he said I could use either one. The black dog is tremendously fast but the fawn one is the winner over a longer distance and looks a stronger type to use over my type of bitch.
I haven’t decided to do a mating yet , I’ll wait and see. I’ll be looking at a lot of dogs over in Ireland in December, might be easier at my age to bring one in rather than breed a litter.

Cheers.
